SC-512N1-L/DVI PC capture help

Post by arkazal »

Hey, I've looked around the internet for a place I could ask this question, and I really don't know where it's appropriate because there isn't a website just for the SC-512N1-L or anything, but I found a question about this capture card on this website and so I thought maybe it would be okay to ask another one :P

I have an RTX 2080 SUPER, which has audio drivers, so I thought it would be a great way to record PC gameplay. But when I connect my PC to the DVI in port, and then connect the DVI out port to a computer monitor, I get no picture. The in connection uses an HDMI to DVI adapter, since the 2080 only has HDMI (or DisplayPort) connections. I tried running the in connection through the splitter/stripper I use for HDMI when recording PS3 gameplay, to see if there was any HDCP, but that didn't work. Just to clarify, I get picture if I connect the HDMI to a DVI monitor using the DVI adapter, so that configuration isn't inherently broken.

It might be a bit of a long shot, but... does anyone know of anything I could be missing here? Or is there any fundamental reason this will just never work? If I've been too vague, please let me know what information I can include. I've been using OBS as screen capture software, and I'd really love to use the capture card instead, so any help would be greatly appreciated :)
