PS1 DualShock problem

Hi,

I have a PS1 DualShock that started showing problems. First the analogs sticks turn off by them self after 20 to 30 seconds (no red light) and later the console stop recognizing the whole controller.

I opened and cleaned it but no response (cables and solder points in the controller look fine). I also know the problem is not the console ports because I can play just fine with a ps2.

So now I think the problem is on the cable connector to the console, but I don't think I can open it without breaking it (it doesn't have screws). Any Ideas??

If the problem is in the connector, you could source another DualShock and swap the cables, or perhaps just use the new controller.
