DVDO iScan VP Status LED Color Codes

Post by Greg2600 »

I've had a VP50 for a long time. A few months ago it started zonking out on me. The status LED keeps blinking YELLOW but I cannot find documentation on what a yellow LED means. Does anyone know what the LED colors on the iScan VP's mean? I cannot locate anything beyond Red/Green and tried emailing whatever DVDO/Anchor Bay calls itself now.

Thanks.

whatever the failure exactly is, in 95% of cases it's due to a failing PSU, especially any irrational behaviour like this. I would try to either get a recap for the PSU or just a new PSU instead. For the VP50 (6 amps) it's not as hard to get one as it is for the 50Pro (7 amps).

@Fudoh - do you have a replacement PSU you can recommend? I have a replacement for non-OEM that I got with my VP30 when I bought it off ebay. I get irrational behavior every once in a while. Would like a good "recommended" PSU which would hopefully last for years (truthfully, i hardly use the VP30 anymore, but when I do, I hate fussing around with it acting unpredictably).

The cheap replacement PSUs from ebay can be bit wonky. I have a big lab power supply (with adjustable output) that's good, but expensive. On Aliexpress you can get "arcade style" power supplies with 6V and 10A for next to nothing. This would probably be my budget choice right now http://aliexpress.com/item/32756871411.html . You just have to connect your own cables on both ends.

I actually tried another 6V PSU and it's doing the same exact thing. Fuse is fine too.

DVDO actually got back to me, but all they could say is yellow is "something bad," and tried to do a factory reset which did nothing. I just put it on eBay for parts, and hope the OSSC Pro comes out soon.
