The PS2 version is coming out about 6 days from now. Famitsu generally doesn't like SNK fighters so there's no surprise there.

What do you mean they don't like them? I thought the King of Fighters series and derivatives, along with Guilty Gear, were super huge in Japan?

Yeah, the KOFs are big in JP arcades. However, Famitsu generally doesn't give SNK's games high scores, with many of the same reasons as US magazines, who feel similarly regarding KOF games (that the series is severely outdated, looks shitty, has no innovation, etc.).

My fault for stereotypically assuming Japanese videogame reviewers would be any smarter than American videogame reviewers. IMO fighting games should be reviewed as fighting games.
