Gameboy Interface - NTSC Gamecube / Saurian RGB Cable

Post by Trevor spencer »

Hi

Ive been messing around with my NTSC gamecube lately and have had a bit of a headache with it but i am now getting somewhere.

Basically i installed a Xeno and its all good but when i booted swiss it would go to a black screen originally i thought i had trouble booting back ups but i have just found out (after burning many different types of disc :x ) it wasnt that , what was happening is i have a modified Scart/D sub cable made by saurian from bitd so i can display 240p/480i RGB on my CRT via Scart but when i have this plugged in i presume swiss was detecting the digital port was plugged in and booting into 480p which my CRT dosnt handle , so i swapped over to composite got video and changed the defualt settings to boot to 480i in swiss which worked but it seems GBI also does the same thing but i cant see any options to make it boot to 480i by default when i have the digital port occupied

Can i change the boot up video settings on GBI ?

Thanks

Yes, you have several options. One is dynamic via .dcp file in Swiss. Or if you want a certain setting always, use .cli file (can also be appended directly to the end of the gbi .dol).

It shouldn't be necessary if Swiss was set for 480i. That'd clear the progressive scan flag in SRAM, which GBI reads, and not be 480p, which GBI checks for if the flag is cleared.

Ok thanks , I thought it would work if I set swiss to 480i but it goes straight to a black screen , I am trying this without a GBA player attached though as i havnt received mine yet so not sure if that is causing the problem.

When I connect the composite cable I get a screen with white writing with zoom options and display resolution numbers.
