Help with NESRGB and OSSC

Post by Sargon »

Hello,

I recently connected my NESRGB-modded NES to my new Sony OLED TV using an OSSC. It passes audio through on RGBS, but I only get an occasional flicker of video. Is there a setting I need to change, or is this a sync issue with my cable? Unfortunately, I don't remember where I purchased the SCART cable from, but it is an SNES Multi-out to SCART cable and it was previously working fine with my XRGB-3.

I connected my Atari Jaguar and it passes both audio and video with no issue.

Does anyone know how I can get my NES working? Is there any specific Multi-out to SCART cable that works better than others?

Thanks!

Is the TV losing signal or the OSSC? If it's the OSSC, the light will change from green to red and the information on the LCD will keep changing.

My guess is that your cable is not compatible with your RGB mod. Do you have any information about the mod? Did you do it yourself, pay for it to be done or buy it premodded?

If it's premodded, did it come with a cable that you are no longer using, or have one recommended by the seller?

The OSSC light remains a solid green. I had the mod done a few years ago. It was initially modded by Jason Rauch, and later upgraded by Voultar. As I understand it, both of them are experienced modders.

I am beginning to wonder if it may be this issue here - https://www.videogameperfection.com/for ... e-posting/ that would require the installation of a de-jitter board.

Yeah if the OSSC stays green it normally indicates compatibility issues with the display.

I think your assessment is correct, the dejitter mod will likely fix it.

This has already been reported in some Sony 4Ks in the OSSC compatibility thread.

Does anyone know someone, preferably in the USA, who would be able/willing to install a de-jitter kit?

I'd check back with Jason or Voultar. One or the other may be willing to install it for you.

I mentioned in the dejitter thread that it completely fixed all issues between my NES and Sony TV (X900E), so I agree there's a good chance it will help with your Sony OLED too.

That is good news. I'll give it a shot as long as I can find someone to install it for me.
