I picked up a Sony PVM-1953MD a while back and was looking to use it to play some verts, I tried to rotate it to the left to play some DDP and as soon as I did there was some distortion (as if a magnet was brought near it) in the lower left corner (same corner as the speaker). I did this while powered on (which was really stupid). Rotating it back to the normal position alleviated the problem. I'm wondering what would cause this, why would rotating it cause what appears to be a magnetic distortion? Is the speaker causing this issue perhaps or could it be something else?
Here is a picture of a 1953MD (grabbed from the internet, not mine) just for reference:

I took the cover off and looked around inside and couldn't see anything obvious. My only hunch is maybe the speaker is causing the issue since the distortion appears in that same corner, but only when it's rotated. I was thinking of removing the speaker and trying it again but getting to that damn speakers seems like it will require a complete dismantling of the entire unit.
