Convergence Adjustment - BVM D24 vs. A24 - Is A24 inferior?

Post by Michael Ikonomidis »

I recently acquired a BVM A24E1WU, and so far it looks like the convergence adjustment feature is inferior to that of the D24E1WU.

On the D series, a grid pattern is displayed, and convergence set over each of the small squares that makes up the grid, allow for precise adjustment across the entire screen.

On the A series, you only have these options:

VSTATIC - vertical conv. across whole screen at once
VCONV TOP/BOT - vertical conv. at entire top or bottom at once
HSTATIC - horizontal across whole screen at once.

I'm a bit disappointed, as this is a big step back from D series. Unless there is another way to do it, which I'm missing. I'm surprised Sony would remove the precise adjustment.

Going by what's written in the manuals that seems to be the case!

That's another reason to stay away from the A series I guess..

Edit: The A32 still has digital convergence adjustments though, but that won't be of any help..
