Curious what people's thoughts are on this game. I looked through a few threads (and added my score to the high score thread) and most people seem to agree that this version is superior to the arcade. I had never played it until recently but I found it to be a pretty solid early 16-bit SHMUP. I also found it incredibly difficult to 1cc, especially on the Hard difficulty (although if you are trying to beat it normally, it's pretty forgiving with checkpoints and extra lives). The bullets are so fast and track to where you are (so moving as little as possible when there are lots of enemies is crucial) and the game does something that not many SHMUPS back then did. Which is scale the difficulty of the game as you gain powerups. Once you pass the third powerup, many of the bugs fire extra bullets as well as enemies and bosses being able to take more damage before they die. I found this interesting for a SHMUP of this time. And like I said, it made the game extremely difficult in the later stages as the amount of bullets on the screen was insane! For a game released in 1990 anyway

Anyone else ever been able to 1cc this game on Hard? I'm curious of what strategies you used on the later levels, particularly the last which is especially brutal. Anyone find this game not that difficult? I can't imagine.... But there is always that one person who thinks every game is easy I guess lol.
Anyway, if anyone is interested, here is my 1cc run that I capped on my Model 1 Genesis with a Framemeister as always:

If you are someone who has watched any of my videos over the past 4 years than you'll probably notice that this video is a bit of a throwback to my original few I did in 2014. Figured it would be fun to start off the new year. Let me know what you think and I'd love to hear other's experiences playing Insector X, Genesis or arcade.
