Hi.
I have been thinking a lot about the different image placement from my NES, SNES and N64 lately. People on different forums are saying that the only way to fix the overscan, is to adjust it on the television. Yes, that is for a single console, but it usually makes the image placement from another console worse. The easy solution is to zoom and you get a decent image on every console, but I believe I am not alone when I'm saying this: IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH! I want to fill out the entire screen on every console.
My questions are: Is the any way to adjust the image placement before it reaches the television? Where is the image placement determined? Do you have to mod the console or is there a device that can handle the image placement from the console and sends it to television?

I'm not sure what equipment you have, but, if you have an OSSC, you can adjust the image position and save your changes to a profile. I think the Framemeister has similar functionality.

No, I don't have the ossc or the framemeister. I have NES, SNES, N64 connected to a Bandridge Premium Performance 5-Way SCART Selector and then to a CRT (B&O MX7000).nmalinoski wrote:I'm not sure what equipment you have, but, if you have an OSSC, you can adjust the image position and save your changes to a profile. Simply, there is no easy solution, especially when different games on the same console can have a varying array of resolutions.

Are you talking about zoom (you mentioned overscan) or horizontal and vertical position (not size)?

Doesn't an Extron 201rxi or 203rxi accomplishes just what the OP is looking for?

Probably not, since they don't have knobs to compensate over/underscan. (And, even if they did, it would be a PITA to have to adjust that every time the console changes.)FinalBaton wrote:Doesn't an Extron 201rxi or 203rxi accomplishes just what the OP is looking for?

Ah, I had only read the "placement" part in his post.
Personally I think he will not be able to find a solution that doesn't add lag.
If I were him I'd settle for an Extron like I mentionned, center the image and then press UNDERSCAN or OVERSCAN on your tv depending on the console. First adjust the tv's screen size so that it's best suited for both UNDERSCAN and OVERSCAN modes. Then all your consoles should fill the screen pretty decently.
I'll admit that I'm not obsessed with that stuff though, so I may not have the same needs as the OP
