BVM-D24E1WU and PS3 sync issues
I have my PS3 hooked up to my BVM's 42HD card over component with BNC adapters (official Monster PS3 cable), and it comes in crystal clear at 480, but as soon as I change the PS3 to 720P or 1080i it won't sync properly and wiggles like crazy. What settings should I be looking at in order to get it working right? Or should I swap out the card (I have a few spare that came with the monitor)?

If your not using an HDMI-to-HD SDI converter box then there is no reason to hookup the PS3 the 42HD card.
Hook it up to the ANALOG input instead with the component cables. You should be able to then use 480i, 480p, or 1080i.
Just out of curiosity, what is the serial number of the 42HD card? Some of the early cards have issues with 720p and a few other signal formats according to the manual.

So 480p/1080i is as good as it gets unless you're using HDMI->SD SDI?philexile wrote:If your not using an HDMI-to-HD SDI converter box then there is no reason to hookup the PS3 the 42HD card.

I've hooked it up to the ANALOG input, only 480 signals work, same issue as with the 42HD.
Not sure on serials, I have two 42HD cards actually. I'll make a point to check in a bit. And a 41HD, I think is the other?
UPDATE:
42HD 1: 2601541
42HD 2: 2100170
41HD: 2600873

You should be able to use 480i/p, 720p, or 1080i with the PS3 component cables and the ANALOG card.
The HD SDI cards will only accept a 720p or 1080i converted HDMI signal.
Check all the video settings on the PS3, maybe something is amiss?
The 42HD #2 card could be problematic - see the image below from the manual:

Weird, you shoul have 0 issues if you hook a PS3 with a Component cable.DejahThoris wrote:I've hooked it up to the ANALOG input, only 480 signals work, same issue as with the 42HD.
Is the PS3 hooked directy to the monitor or are you using some kind of processor?

Re: BVM-D24E1WU and PS3 sync issues
Thank you both. The PS3 is plugged in directly, nothing in-between. I'll test the PS3 on something else, and try to find my VGA->BNC cable to test out a desktop or the 360 on it as well.
Try to narrow down what the culprit is here.
It worked fine months ago, but after moving the monitor to another room, I never hooked everything back up until the other night and have had zero success. I imagine it's something I've done wrong, and not the electronics, but we'll see!

I don't think that's the issue, but did you disable EXTERNAL SYNC on the monitor? Because when outputting in RGsB or YPbPr it only needs 3 wires (Y/G, Pb/B, Pr/R), not the fourth (SYNC).DejahThoris wrote:I imagine it's something I've done wrong, and not the electronics, but we'll see!
Did you switch to HDTV mode rather than SDTV mode? Did you switch to 16:9 mode? The BVM can only do 16:9 for HDTV resolutions such as 720p and 1080i, 4:3 is only for 576i, 480p, 480i, 288p and 240p.

I don't know that external sync is disabled or not, but it's set to internal. I have just the three cables plugged in.
This is what I get on both 360 and PS3 when over 480i.

I get this same result in either 42HD card, and the non-removable analog card.
The channels I've been on are "16:9 normal" mode. No idea how to change between HD/SD, I don't see that setting.

Re: BVM-D24E1WU and PS3 sync issues
my setup is PS3 HDMI 720p to HD fury2 --> to extron 203 --> to analog RGB on the BVM32.. that setup game me the best results picture wise when I was testing things up and that is how my setup stayed ever since..
Edit - I remember testing component over the HD card and on the analog and the best picture was over analogue and setting to RGB instead of component..you can really see the difference

Well, I can't seem to get component working on any card beyond 480i. And I don't have any of that extra hardware to play around with :/.SNK-NEO-GEO wrote:my setup is PS3 HDMI 720p to HD fury2 --> to extron 203 --> to analog RGB on the BVM32.. that setup game me the best results picture wise when I was testing things up and that is how my setup stayed ever since..

Interesting, didn't even knew that disabling component sync was even a thing, I knew you could enable/disable external sync for RGBs but that's it. Anyways, glad you got it working out now, enjoy.DejahThoris wrote:GUYS GUYS GUYS!
