CRTEmudriver and Sony BVM D24 settings help

Post by zoopster »

Hi,

I've been using CRTEmudriver and GroovyMame on my Sony BVM D24. The results in 15khz modes have been spectacular and I've also got a nice 1368x768 desktop as well. However, I've had some problem with modes in the 30300-35000 range (31-33 khz) where the colors are incorrect / muddy. I've been using the following mode settings posted by a form member on arcadecontrols.

monitor "bvm_d24e1wu_alt", "Sony BVM-D24E1WU - Alternate", "4:3"
crt_range0 15200-20500, 54.70-62.00, 1.500, 4.700, 4.700, 0.602, 0.191, 1.352, 0, 0, 192, 288, 390, 576
crt_range1 30300-35000, 54.70-62.00, 0.500, 2.000, 2.600, 0.128, 0.030, 1.032, 0, 0, 320, 480, 0, 0
crt_range2 30300-35000, 54.70-62.00, 0.500, 2.000, 2.600, 0.030, 0.030, 1.032, 0, 0, 481, 512, 0, 0
crt_range3 42200-49900, 54.70-62.00, 0.800, 0.755, 3.400, 0.067, 0.156, 0.444, 0, 0, 640, 800, 0, 0

I'm not sure if this is an issue specifically with my BVM or not. Any thoughts on how is may be possible to display both 24khz titles - like Narc - and 640 x 480 resolutions in a high range such as 42200-49900?

Thanks,
John

Have you tried posting on the ArcadeControls forum? That's their forum and you would probably be better off asking them directly.

I did :) The color issue is the something I thought a BVM expert may be able to cast a view on.

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I've been doing some research on this lately...it seems like that guy with the D24/D32 timings doesn't know what he's doing if I'm to be blunt - a couple other people I've talked to tried them and they're pretty much all jacked-up on their monitors as well. I have a D20, but the same timings for 4:3 content should hold true on my set as well.

I was going to slowly work through some of the other monitors 480p timings and see if any worked for me. It seems like Calamity at some point had a dual sync (15khz 240p and 31khz 480p timing) in the drop-down menu in CRT Emudriver all pre-setup...maybe we can find out from him how to manually put those in and we would be golden.
