Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Finished a great run of 1943 (NES) today. I've put a good deal of research into each stage and come away with some pretty decent strats. I sincerely doubt that I'm the first to get 100% on each Mission or to achieve a score in this neighborhood, but I'm proud of this, all the same.
I used to think it would be impossible for me to beat without using turbo. The old adage about practice...well...never gets old. Anyway, hope some of you enjoy this. Cheers!

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Thanks for the replay. At the moment the table is still arcade-exclusive.
Have you looked into arcade 1943 and figured out how to get 4mil+ scores? Perhaps the same is possible on the NES version?

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
The FC version of 1943 is a fairly different game and isn't really comparable. Same goes for the PC Engine version of 1943 Kai.
Rage Pro, Rage Fury, Rage MAXX!
Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
I have played a bit of the Arcade version. I enjoy the game very much, but the second half of the last stage is frustrating to the point of being a confidence killer. In the future, I may put more practice into it in hopes of a 3 million+ score. Currently, it's a challenge just to beat the game.Plasmo wrote:Thanks for the replay. You're very welcome. I only decided to post these because Perikles shared console runs from several players earlier in this thread. I'm not asking for this score to be officially recognized by this site. I simply thought some other users might enjoy watching the run.
I do not believe that 4 million is possible on the Famicom or NES ports. 3.3 million is definitely possible and I came a great deal closer to it than I had expected to. That being said, there is still a great deal about the game which I do not know. Around 3.4 million might be the max out.

I have yet to see any video of a 2-ALL of Parodius Da! with Vic Viper, but I found this which makes it to 2-4 with a score of 1,521,300: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/276992666
Note that this isn't a highlighted VOD, so the link will be expiring in a couple days. I'm away from home right now and may not be able to download the video before it's gone, so can someone please do that for me?

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
I could do it. I'm on gigafiber so it should be quick and easy getting it on YT or wherever.
Just a question - how do you download videos from Twitch?

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Jdownloader works fine for most people; install the program, paste the url (in the dedicated tab), wait a moment and it should show you what's available, rightclick on it and start the download.
That one should be a bit over 2 GB.

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Alright, thanks. I'll set this up later tonight.
e: downloading now, using JDownloader 2. thing is slow as balls. 2 MB/s when I'm theoretically capable of 125. Hopefully uploading to YT will be much quicker.
e2: I think they want you to pay for some "premium account" thing to get better speeds. Whatever, I'm uninstalling this as soon as it's done, lol.
e3: Got it. Playback seems to be fine on my PC. Looks like he keeps playing after the VV credit. Not sure if I can (or should) edit the rest out... the last time I edited video it was using AviSynth scripts and MeGUI re-encoding so I have no idea if anything better has come along. Any ideas? Will also need some info, if any is known, of the player and/or details of the run to put in the YT description.
e4: Uploaded the whole thing as-is. Took about 10 seconds, lol. That's the gigafiber I know and love. Put some basic info in the description, and will leave it unlisted until you guys tell me it should be edited or not. As of the last edit YT has not finished processing it.
e5: YT made it 30fps, that's unacceptable. I don't know how to enable full frames, I didn't see an option for it anywhere.
e6: file reports 59.94 fps, maybe YT is choking on that since it's not straight 60? Is there any way around this?

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Many thanks! You probably need to upscale it to at least 720 pixels in height to get 60fps. I usually use ffmpeg for stuff like that and trimming videos. I don't know anything about the player other than the nonexistent description on the Twitch channel (I don't even remember how I found the channel, might have been through a related video recommendation from another Gradius III stream).OmegaFlareX wrote:Alright, thanks. Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Thanks for the info. The original video I used JDownloader to get is safely stored for now and the 30fps YT vid is still there, just private atm. I really don't have the brainpower right now to learn some new command-line bullshit to fix it (something I also hated about AviSynth years ago), but I'll get around to it eventually.Shepardus wrote:Many thanks! Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Nice job, looks good. That command string from the description probably would've taken me ages to figure out.
Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Thanks guys great teamwork
On another note, you can find a new link to an amazing Strikers 99 replay using F-22 Raptor in the main post. It's silly how much harder the game becomes with ships other than the X-36.
There are countless of other new replays as well. I usually do not make a new post here everytime, but be sure to check out the main post every once in a while to find some pleasant surprises.

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
So has anyone saved the Esprade replay for JB 5th? Stage 3 is down for whatever reason.

Brave Blade - 74,654,710 - hoge_master (aka R. - pretty sure they're the same person)

The saved high score you can see at the top of the screen is the world record listed in the Hall of Records thread, and this gets within one million points of that.

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Better scores:
More convenience:
This run is complete whereas the one currently listed is not.
New games:
Kyugo
Nichibutsu
SNK
Tecmo
I also can't seem to access the Type A Prehistoric Isle 2 video anymore - on account of copyright, apparently. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Thanks for the many additions! will add them all in a bit.
That Prehistoric Isle replay appears to be down indeed. Too bad. Maybe someone can reupload it?

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
And another one bites the dust. All of Kino's replays are down (incl. a world record).
Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
A couple of improved runs for 1941:
(12,384,200, Normal) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrxsxaYd8Qo
(12,577,900, Hardest) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqljwR13kAs
For the sake of transparency, there is a difference between the Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2's version and the "World" arcade ROM (I've not yet played the Japan ROM). It has to do with the timer. Weapon icons give the player 60 seconds of use. You can add on to that, of course. It tops out at 99 and will continue to do so. However, the people who developed the arcade collection for home consoles altered this. If you have 41 seconds left and collect a weapon icon, the timer will read 01 (meaning you have only 1 second left). Thus, collecting at 60 = 20, 80 = 40, and so forth.
Also to note, if you collect at 40 seconds, the timer will read 00 and you'll have unlimited use for the rest of the stage. Providing you don't collect another weapon icon, that is.
I wasn't aware that Perikles (nice guy that he is) was going to share one of my recent scores for this version, so I just wanted to clear that up.

Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
By the way, does anyone know where I can find a replay of CNT!'s run?
He's listed as holding the world record of 15,070,400 points. I'd love to get a look at it but couldn't find a replay link on the Hall of Records page.
Who would I talk to about that? Plasmo?

Thanks for the update on your score! Added to the main post. Interesting to read about the version differences as well. So do you think you have a scoring advantage on the CCC2 version of the game?bubufubu wrote:By the way, does anyone know where I can find a replay of CNT!'s run?

The WR replay is one of many that we classify as "not available". Arcade WR videos are taken very seriously and people would literally kill for them in some cases. It's probably only shared privately in small circles in Japan. Don't hope for it to ever surface on the net. The list that I'm maintaining here shows the highest scoring replays available for each game to our best knowledge. Therefore, your own replay is the way to go.
Looking forward to see new scores from you!
Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
It's strange how this silly little niche is the only place i've ever seen such behaviors, usually people in everything else tend to be proud of their WRs and want to show them as a declaration of skill and setting of a standard for others to attempt to reach but not so here.Plasmo wrote:

My belief is this is because replay hiders are insecure and deep down know if not for "supa sekret" knowledge in some game 3 people play that many of the superior players would beat them in a week or 2. It's funny how people like WY upload his replays immediately which is obviously because he is confident in his ability and everyone knows how ridiculous that level is in DOJ so much so that even with all the intricate knowledge he stands as an example daring anymore to prove they are greater for which 99% will fail, that's a real great player right there. This hiding shit is cringe shit for shut in losers who couldn't even kill the reiko pillows they own let alone harm another human lmao.

If you want to defend such childish behavior in grown men be my guest and if you can rebut anything i said even better. I guess you might defend from a cultural point of view? I mean it has to be because you certainly aren't in ANY danger of producing a replay anyone wants to see.trap15 wrote:back to /vg/
Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
In my opinion it's regrettable that they withhold replays, but it's their work and their choice whether or not to share, and that's not even getting into situations where it's not their choice. There are game centers that forbid publication of replays made there.
