I bought an Extron VSC 500 unit and received it a few days ago.
Started testing by connecting a pc to it that has soft15khz installed, i set the resolution to 480p and connected the loop through to a plasma hd tv all worked fine.
when i tried setting a 15khz resolution it gave me the out of range message which is expected.
Next i tested the s-video output connected to the plasma tv which worked well and also gave the out of range and black tv screen when trying a 15khz resolution.
The next day i tried connecting it to a component crt tv through the bnc outputs with a res of 480p and it worked but this time switching to a 15khz res did not give the out of range message it actually displayed the image on the crt tv it was output at 480i but with the resolution scaled though it didn't look good.
i went back and tested the vsc unit on the plasma tv and confirmed that its now accepting 15khz resolutions, i also connected the loop through out to a scart crt tv using a vga to scart cable and it passed the 15khz res.
So not sure how this happened or if it has any real use ?
