Bullet Hells with Checkpoints

Post by mamboFoxtrot »

To clarify: Bullet hell games where you die in one hit and get sent back to a checkpoint.
Just a random curiosity as to how many examples of this exist. The only one I can think of is Progear's second loop.

If you're willing to count it as bullet hell, V-V.

NTSC-J: You know STGs are in trouble when you have threads on how to introduce them to a wider audience and get more people playing followed by threads on how to get its hardcore fan base to play them, too.

In Gradius V by default you respawn immediately, but if memory serves you can enable checkpoints in the options menu.

I don't really think Gradius V is a bullet-hell.

On higher loops it most certainly is.

And yes, there is an option to turn on checkpoints for Gradius V, but it is not the default.

I thought all shoot'em ups were bullet hell.

I'd thought about mentioning Gradius V, but I didn't since, as mentioned above, the checkpoints are optional. I'd definitely describe some of the footage I've seen of Loop 10 bullet hell, though.

Otomedius X(Excellent) and Otomedius G(Gorgeous) may serve the same purpose about loop 10.
At this rate, I won’t be interested into shmups anymore. I am no longer going to be active in this forum from now on. I am more interested into Kemono Friends, rhythm games, D4DJ, Puzzle Games, Hololive, and Pretty Cure.

Farewell.
