Hi all,
I'm having a weird issue with my Turbo Duo R. It has been both region and RGB modded by Voultar. He also verified my caps are good. The issue is a buzzing sound anytime the console is on. If you play a game, the sound generally overrides it except during quiet scenes but it's always there. I've tested scart cables from different vendors as well as power supplies from different vendors. I also tested multiple electrical outlets. Doesn't matter if a hu card or CD is inserted. As soon as you power the system on...buzz. To me it almost sounds like a 60hz ground hum. Any ideas or suggestions on what to check?
Thanks,
mario64

Does this topic describe the issue you're having?

PC Engines seem to have a typical whine, buzz, or humming noise coming from them, from the soundchip. Unless the noise is coming from the system itself - then I wouldn't know what the problem or issue is.

Thanks Emperor! Looks like it yes. I also subsequently found this thread http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index. ... ic=20471.0 which seems to indicate it's inherent in the system but can possibly be mitigated with high quality, fully shielded scart cables. I'm checking into that optionEmperorIng wrote:Does this topic describe the issue you're having?

I've been trying to get one of Voultar's boards for months. I don't know if he's been out for a while or if I'm just too slow. Check the website almost every day and it's always not available.

Well, I've now tested 4 different scart cables from different vendors including the Pro Coax one from RCA. No change at all. The buzz is still present. This is gonna take the expertise of a Voultar to fix it seems, assuming it is fixable at allmario64 wrote:Thanks Emperor! Looks like it yes. Re: Turbo Duo R issue
All PC Engine models I've owned have had noisy audio. As stated earlier It is inherent I fear but then again, so was the jailbars, until a solution was found. Perhaps decoupling smd caps of a higher value can fix this as well.
