PC Engine Liquid Kids...
So, how close to the arcade original is this port? I don't think it works on Magic Engine; otherwise I'd try 'er out there. And BTW, isn't this game on one of the JP PS2 Taito Collections?

Its a platformer that scrolls every which way. mostly left to right. You shoot liquid bubbles which roll along the ground etc.
Think bubble bobble meets a mickey mouse game or something.
I have the saturn version for sale.. I guess its not worth jack now its out on ps2

Don't be so sure. It's still a great collectible, and doesn't have crappy resolution issues that you'll find on the PS2 version (if that bothers you, that is).I have the saturn version for sale.. I guess its not worth jack now its out on ps2

I don't understand all the complaints about "resolution issues" regarding the Taito PS2 collections. Unless all the games are horribly pixilated, these two collections seem like a great bargain to me.GaijinPunch wrote:Don't be so sure. I think the part about "only being valid on RGB" isn't quite accurate. Bad display resolutions are still noticeable on S-Video.

Well, I just played the PCE port of Liquid Kids, and it's very faithful to the arcade! I am, however, still on the fence about whether or not to even get a J-PSTwo-the new Sega Ages re-makes have me drooling, and there's ton's of shmups on it, but I do still have my Core Grafx II-and the J-PSTwo is still rather pricey for me, even at $219.00 on Play-Asia (I make $7/hour).

Coming here for you must be like me going to a Lamborghini forum.
Bah, I'm getting plenty of hours, and not paying any money into a blasted union, like I was at Albertson's. It's just a temporary job, anyhow. Plus I sold the Saturn, which I never used much, and traded in the P.O.S. XBOX for a Cube.
It's just a matter of saving up; and the J-PSTwo should, theoretically, drop in price as soon as the J-PS3 arrives on the scene

Well Dave, I must say that if your on those budgets, those hours and buying those games.. Fair play! But remember there are other things in life!
To say you don't play something much and sell it seems to be your catch phrase. I think everyone on this board owns something that you once owned.
If i'm not mistaken I own the last R3 PS2 you bought from PA.

The arcade game runs at 15khz non-interlaced. You can notice this from the scan lines on the screen it produces. The PS2 version runs in 15khz interlaced. For it to look proper on your TV, it must use the existing sprites, and scale them up x2. The result is no scanlines, pixelated graphics (sometimes results vary depending on the filters) and a 'shimmer' when the screen scrolls. In other words, it's not true to the original. In English please?
Do you have Mushihime-sama and ESPGaluda? Two great examples. Throw your TV on it's side. Play Mushi for an hour, then pop ESPGaluda in and notice how much sharper/crisper/better it looks.

I'd just rather have the version closer to the original (for anything really). That's why I can't for the life of me watch ANYTHING that's dubbed. I guess I'm a default whore on all fronts.
Mushi burns my eyes though. All that electro-purple on light backgrounds doesn't help either. As stated though, the scaling can be aleviated to some extent through filters. ESPGaluda in yoko mode isn't too bad.

I know my budget, and I am sticking to it, I am saving up money. I do buy games, but rarely new (Dragon Quest VIII will be one exception), and I get excellent prices on the games I do buy, thanks to Game Crazy's great prices and their MVP card. And yes, I know that there's more to life then gaming-primarily Faith, and Family and Friends. And that's all I'm going to say on this topic.neorichieb1971 wrote:Well Dave, I must say that if your on those budgets, those hours and buying those games.. Fair play! @ST Dragon; yeah, I just played Liquid Kids on Magic Engine last night,
and it is indeed excellent and very close-to-par with the arcade original; I know because I have Ben Shinobi's Super-Play video of the arcade rev. I have also played Parasol Stars on Magic Engine, but I'm not quite sure that I get the gist of the gameplay.
