Hi all,
i own quite a lot original PCBS but i thought about that Multi PCBs from china, especially for the games i am still missing and also as a convenient back up.
can they be just connected normally via the supergun and then to a CRT?
there are so may on the market, are there any differences aside from the games list?
i think the newest ones are the 1033 in1 and the 900 in 1, but a not sure: if to buy, which one?
and to the most important issue: how is the actual quality of the emulation in these things?
Cheers,
Robert

Ah yes, I do own one of those multi-game PCBs -- it's one of those Jamma PCBs with Win98 OS and ArcadeOS frontend with a bunch of Mame roms installed on the HDD. The only issue is that I have to disconnect the HDD and install some more mame roms into to it and re-boot it back up so that they are properly recognized. It's nice that the game roms are being displayed in the proper 320 x 240 format as usual. Some hard-core arcade PCB hobbyists scoff at them but imho, it's an easy way to play your favorite mame roms on a real candy cab/supergun setup.
Some of those multi-game PCBs have minor problems with the framerates and different sounds (aside from their original arcade PCB counterparts) but that's to be expected in this day of age. The single layer multi-game Jamma PCBs (the ones that are currently being produced out of China) are basically hit & miss in term of emulation with subpar sound effects/BGM tunes and usual framerates -- you basically get what you pay for in the end.

it would be good to know how these perform especially on the shoot em up titles, also games like Edward Randy . and really what is the one to get since there are so many on the market.

A while back, I had bought one of these vertical oriented 412-in-1 multi-game Jamma PCBs off of Amazon listed here: https://www.amazon.com/WINIT-412-Cockta ... =jamma+pcb that has a bunch of vertical shmup titles on it including most of the classic Cave shmups like Donpachi, Dodonpachi, ESP.ra.de., Guwange, Dangun Feveron, etc. The game roms are running off of a mounted SDHC card inserted on the SD card slot of the PCB located underneath the exterior plastic blue shell itself. Still not a bad way to play 'em nevertheless.
It does come with a printed list of all the vertcal-oriented arcade game roms in it's entirety + step-by-step instructions on how to select your favorite game roms and bypass all the others if you desire to do so.
Here's the other horizontal oriented version of the Blue Elf Jamma PCB with 619 roms: https://www.amazon.com/BLEE-Classical-H ... 30S8Z1TBZ7
Emulation on both boards are all right. It's just some the sound effects are a bit off -- if that is acceptable to you, then by all means get one or other or both for your gaming needs.
It's suggested to just use a custom PC rig with Mame + Ultracade uVC and you're go to go in that respective department but for the sake of simply true "plug 'n' play" of those multi-game Blue Elf PCBs, all the hard work's been done for you.

They're garbage, most of them are based on old buggy versions of MAME running on a version of Linux without proper driver support for the hardware. They're noticeably laggy (and I say this as somebody who thought shmupmame was a waste of time because I couldn't notice the lag in regular MAME) and have all the emulation issues associated with running old versions of emulators.robsi22 wrote:Hi all,

There's practically zero quality control with them, and the newer ones are even worse for that, some are so lazy they don't even give you the full rom names, just the 8 letter MAME shortname in the interface.
Seriously, don't give your money to the people making these, or the people selling them, it's worse than giving it to DotEmu

Re: Multi Arcade pcbs
I just got a pandera's box 4S this week because hey, it's dirt cheap and god damn I wanted to make up my own mind about it ...
a few thoughts so far:
- there's no way to switch from horizontal to vertical
big downer.
- need an adapter CHAMMA to jamma ( ideally the JNX Atlas ) another downer since the adapter is like half the price of the box! oh and button 4 is "back" in the menu
which of course it on the cps2 kick harness...
- annoying startup video can't be disabled ( I'm pretty sure there's a way to hack it... just need time to google it)
- it's darker then my Pcbs. The brightness needs to be adjusted.
- it's dirt cheap!
- my boy is thrilled to be able to choose all these games and hey, he is not yet "visually educated" enough to see the fine differences of a real pcb and emuluation
... I'll have to remedy that!
- has 3 video output choice: jamma, VGA and HMDI
Overall the chamma to jamma is really annoying me ( yes it comes with a chamma harness but I don't want to rewire the NAC just for that....I might end up buying the JNX but shipping from Hawaii is ouch!)
hoping this helps...
