Can CRT Service Counters be Wrong?

Post by Nutricula »

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if CRT service counters can be wrong.

Like quite a few people, I've got hold of a BeoVision MX4xxx series tv (MX4200 to be exact), and when looking at the service counters it doesn't make sense.

Next to the word "Video (Days)" it lists 322.
I take this to mean 24 x 322 = 7728 hours. That bit makes sense.....

What doesn't make sense is the line which lists "On (T*10)".
Next to that line it lists 4763.

I take that to mean times turned on (x10)...... 4763 x 10 = 47630.

That can't be right can it? (Unless I'm misunderstanding what that particular counter means). For that to be true, 7728 hours ÷ 47630 power cycles = 0.16

0.16 of an hour is approximately 10 minutes. Which means it was turned on/off every ten minutes of it's life. That can't be right can it?

Where do you find this info? Can't remember seeing it on my MX7000, but there could be software differences of course.

.... Turn it on and off - see what happens to the number...

Honestly doesn't matter - either TV looks good or doesn't - stop thinking about it :) most of us are probably more than a little obsessive but sometimes ocd is just ocd!
