wondermega rgb mod

Post by Elrinth »

Hi!

I recently got my hands on one of them beasts, now I want to rgb mod it. I already unscrew and remove the RF-output. So I already connected most cables. But I'm having trouble to find where +5V is and where the sync is. I think VCC2 on the chip is +5V, but I'd like clearification by someone on that. Also it's said to grab the sync from the s-video. But I don't know which of the pins behind the s-video which is sync.
Here's the s-video out, behind the blue cap:

I only have COMP and +5V to still connect on this picture (I assume COMP is the sync!?):

well I got everything working except audio.. Audio is completely silent :( Someone wrote I should take the audio from the headphone out, but I can't get loose the other board, I remove all screws but it's still stuck, and I don't really want to force it so it breaks.

why would you want to take audio from the headphone port, when you got the stereo RCAs right on front of you.

What connector are you using for the RGB cable ? If you're using the built-in Midi connector for RGB I would simply add RCA connects to the RGB cable and plug them directly into the stereo out in the back.

I am using no connector. I simply bought rgb cable from retrogaming cables and cut it right at the end then just drag it's cables to the proper places inside the wonder mega.
this way I can restore the wondermega to it's former glory with the RF again.
I just read that the headphone port supposedly had superiour audio quaulity over the RCA.

Just grab audio from the inside of the RCA outputs.

I can't imagine. The headphone port is amplified, likely just as bad as on the original Mega Drive. On the MD people use it because they get stereo sound, but on the Wondermega you get stereo line out from the RCAs already.

yeah I'm grabbing from the RCA, but it's incredibly low. I get either no audio at all, or it's incredibly low and I need to put speakers at mega max... Something is probably wrong here.
Will open it up again sometime during the day to recheck that nothing is wrong.
