Custom cable makers

Post by system11 »

Does anyone know a place that will make custom cables to order, preferably EU based? I know I could make them myself but I've got more stuff to do than time to do it in. I need a SCART -> VGA15 + L/R phono cable.

Retrogamingcables.co.uk used to do this cable, but I can't find it in their catalogue any more. If you ask them to make you one of these:-

they might oblige.

Of course I don't need to remind you SCART is wired differently for input and output, so be careful when ordering.

As an alternative, you should be able to use a standard SCART-to-BNC breakout cable with a BNC-to-VGA breakout cable to achieve the same thing. If you get the opposite gender on BNC connectors on the VGA side, you wouldn't need any couplers, and BNC is a locking connector.

If you were in North America, I'd suggest Monoprice for the BNC-to-VGA cable, but I don't know what the UK equivalent of Monoprice is. Retro Gaming Cables does sell a BNC-to-VGA cable, but the BNC connectors are the same gender as their SCART-to-BNC cable.

I'd say Farnell are the UK version of Monoprice

No audio though - £4

But as mentioned above, you may well have to use 2 cables

SCART -> 4x BNC Video + 2 RCA Audio -> BNC Video -> VGA

either plug the RCA in directly, or just extend them with normal RCA cables

I'm assuming you're VGA equipment can cope with RGB+CSYNC, if not then obviously you'll need something to modify the Sync (split it and double it)
