Others will have to fill in additional details, but a general overview of the Saturn shooter library can be found here.

Re: Jp Saturn help
If you're looking for cheap and good, look no further than Layer Section. I would have gladly paid 80$ for this game, but it sits around 25$ these days.
For places to look, forums are the best. There's this place and the sega saturn forum that can be worth checking out. If not, you can always try to have a look at Satakore or Arcade Gear. I managed to find good deals there at times. But beware: shopping for the Saturn is as fun as it is terrifying.
Have fun!

If you've just purchased a used console, it's highly recommended that you replace the memory battery (a CR2032) located in the rear compartment of the system.

Thank you all very much! And thanks for the battery tip too!

+1 for Layer Section, good price for a great game.
Re: Jp Saturn help
Not a lot in the bargain basement these days... Like the layer section recommendation.
Soukyugurentai remains on the reasonable side compared to many others, and I really like it - probably my most played Saturn shmup - not chips cheap but probably half the price of some of the big names.
Not a shmup but if you fancy a platformer-mecha-shooter Ieynos 2 would be my bargin reccommendation if you like the look of it.
Try offering a price for a handful of games to some of the bigger sellers, especially if picking up some lower priced games with the higher ticket items... Bulk always makes it more worthwhile to a seller... But yeah no two ways about it shmups have tended to live in the past a bit and niche/region limited releases have kept it a bit elitist

Another vote for Layer Section. And it's well worth rotating your screen for it.
I got my Saturn games some time ago so I'm not sure what's cheap any more.
Sega Ages: Fantasy Zone is a nice one that is probably still reasonable. Think Darius Gaiden is reasonable too - though for some reason it doesn't save high scores which is a pity.
