PVM 2530 Green Tinted Screen with component

Post by jay »

Me and a friend just recently picked up a pvm 2530. We got it back to the house and tried component from a wii on it and got a green tinted screen. We tested an n64 with it and switched sync on green off for it, works fine with no issue. We're using a db25 to female scart, and plugging a component to scart passthrough into it. Anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

I'm a bit confused. The PVM 2530 doesn't support component, AFAIK, and you're using a scart cord with a North American wii?

It sounds like you're trying to send a component video signal to a monitor that expects an RGB signal, and since the only one of the three component cables that should produce a recognizable signal is luma, which would normally be the same pin as green...

Well the original setup we had was a 1953md with rca to bnc connectors. We are using a component cable with a North American wii. The idea is is that the scart passthrough would essentially work the same as rca to bnc. Is the issue just that the 2530 doesn't support component whereas the 1953md does?

Got it. I'll look into something like the Extron CVC in that case for now I guess.

You could try something like Beharius' GARO:

It's admittedly overkill, since for your scenario a lot of the features (like support for 480p through 1200p75, or support for RGBHV output, or the built-in scanline generator) are useless for your particular needs, but at $85 USD, it's not all that expensive. Sucks that it doesn't come with the power brick, though. I dislike the "we're doing this to save you money" thing, since somebody making the things could get a better deal buying them in bulk than me getting them one-off from somewhere and paying two sets of shipping. It actually costs me more money than if it were included.

While it is overkill, it is indeed a cheaper option than an Extron CVC currently. I'll probably consider getting it in the future if I don't catch a listing for an Extron CVC on the cheap.

Just got this for $55 shipped, just wanted to post it up here since they have 27 more at the time of this post. Best solution cost-wise for a PVM lacking component capability.
