I am trying to make a cable for X68000 to connect to the monitor on a FM Towns UX.
Fm Towns UX has a external RGB input which is D-SUb 15 (the two row version)
X68000 also has D-sub 15 out.
I am using these pinout and wired audio seperately to phonos which the UX 20 has phono input.

I have left out the following pins on the fm towns:
7 Csync
10 AV Control
11 Mode
13 Dot Clock.
The rest of the wires are pin to pin connection except YS which I have wired from pin 7 on X68000 to pin 9 on fm towns.
Unfortunately all I get is a black screen. Nada. Zip. Am I missing something or am I doing a wild goose chase?
Edit: Another question I am curious on is, with these pinouts for x68000 how does it tell the monitor to switch resolutions? I assume it's YS ? I also assume that 15k rgb is not possible without csync?

Re: X68000 RGB Out to FM Towns UX
The pinout you linked is correct, but misleading.
Older Towns machines and monitors (such as your UX), are strictly RGBS. The H and V pins are unused and do nothing.
Now the X68000 outputs everything (15/24/31) in RGBHV, so yeah black screen.
However later Towns models (such as the Fresh series), actually switched to RGBHV in order to make them compatible with NEC (Sharp) monitors. In fact a stock Fresh can only output in 24/31. If you run a 15khz game on one, the system will add a black border around the image and output it in 31khz.
This is why those weird Towns Video Cards exist. With a Video Card inserted into a Fresh, true 15khz will be restored, however it will actually output 15 via S, while 24/31 come out via HV.
Towns monitors from that 2nd era support both S and HV input.
So yeah for your setup, you will need to do some modding work.

Thank you so much! I just looked at the chassis and you are absolutely right! Pins 14 and 15 aren't connected to anything! It's just soldered into the chassis and that's it! Just a thought, would combining H +V (physically) and linking it to pin 7 on the fm towns UX be a stupid idea?

Should work. The two last question in the original post are nonsense.
