dunno if this is new to you guys, but this site contains various 8bit STG ships
reworked into 3D by the mecha designer of steel batallion, junji okubo..

Very cool indeed. He's even making a Recca one, but the sketch is from the exact same angle as the picture on the game's (and OST's) cover. Kind of a bummer, I hope he'll do a battlescene like with FinalStar and F/X1C instead. And I'm sure I've seen that Solvalou somewhere before, or at least something VERY similar to it.

Well, yes, that's one of Solvalou most classic stances. I think it's very often shot from the back.

But I don't know all the ship names.

So the Final Star seems like the one from Star Force(?).

How about the others, what are their origins?

..the Zystas looks familiar too.... but I'm not sure.

Hope he makes a Vic Viper too.

...I know, I know, there are plenty Vic Viper artworks. But this ship is just a masterpiece.

The source game is mentioned right there, between the image itself and the menu from which you choose the ships.

He even have the original sprites on his site; to compare.

Hahaha, don't know the scource game from that Zystas ship. But from the F/X... & Fighter EX instead.

very nice indeed. i anticipate the Recca ship greatly. god that game is insanely great.
