Hi everyone,
I am getting random dropouts where the screen suddenly goes to black (Framemeister trying to find the input signal) and will stay black for anywhere between 1-10 seconds. This happens with different cables. RGB cables are from Retro console accessories and retro gaming cables UK. I don't think it's an issue with the cables as they all do it, even s video. This leads me to think it may be a sync setting issue, but I don't know what the correct settings should be. I currently have it on auto, timing is 3 and level is 13.
Any suggestions?

Re: Framemeister - periodic drop outs
It may not be related, but keep in mind that the Framemeister has terrible handling of resolution changes, so games that switch between 240p and 480i (like when entering/exiting menus) will cause the screen to go black for multiple seconds.

OP, it's probaby what Guspaz said. Can you tell us what game(s) you're playing?

I don't think it's resolution changes, as it happens on NES, SNES and Genesis games, which don't switch resolutions. Games such as Super Mario 3, Super Mario World and Ghouls n Ghosts.CobraKing wrote:OP, it's probaby what Guspaz said. Can you tell us what game(s) you're playing?
Also, it does occur when using composite as well as RGB, so I don't think its the cables.

Have you tried swapping HDMI cables and inputs on your TV? Have you tried raising the SYNC_LEVEL setting higher than 13 or lower than default? Have you identified specific repro steps (game title/point in game)? I've had odd dropouts when playing a few different games via a PowerPak on one of my NESRGB consoles. Raising the sync level from 9 to 13 resolved the issue (DD&BT title intro). Are you using a custom euro SCART to XRGB-mini adapter that draws power from the AC adapter? Which TV(s)/monitor(s) have you encountered this issue?

Re: Framemeister - periodic drop outs
Just to clarify, there are games on those systems (SNES and Genesis, anyway) that do change resolution. But yeah, if it's happening on those games, it's not that problem.bluenote wrote:I don't think it's resolution changes, as it happens on NES, SNES and Genesis games, which don't switch resolutions. I think I've narrowed down the problem. If I touch the framemeister while in use it'll lose its signal. It seems extremely sensitive if you touch it. The cables are in tight. Not sure if this is a cable problem or hardware.
Does this sound normal?

Re: Framemeister - periodic drop outs
sounds like a bad ground connection in the Scart to MiniDin adapter you're using.

I think it's a faulty HDMI cable. I used a different cable and it works much better now.Fudoh wrote:sounds like a bad ground connection in the Scart to MiniDin adapter you're using.
Thanks everyone for your help.
