XRGB Mini + SNES mini question

Post by xwizit »

Hey guys, long time lurker and have actually purchased quite a few items from reccomendations on here :) great forum.

I have a few questions and ill try to ask them in the most simplified manner. I am only very new to terms like sync strippers and csync etc but ive got a basic idea without getting too technical about them.

So ive bought an RGB capable (modded) snes mini from ebay (the one that did not output rgb natively) and i was curious. I will be using this with the XRGB mini and would like to use csync scart cables. Is the "rgb mod" done to the snes mini ALSO the one that restores/adds csync functionality? OR is that mod (adding csync capability) a totally different mod altogether?

Secondly, i have a modded PS2 with an infinity matrix chip that allows NTSC/PAL ps2 and ps1 games. Now, ps2 both regions works fine, but PSX games in NTSC format dont show any picture (again, PAL Ps2, NTSC game, No image) VIA component. Is this a known issue? I know i should be using SCART anyway, but my euroscart adapter is not here yet so im just experimenting for the time being :)

The image shows fine on my CRT, but via xrgb mini, nothing. Only audi.

Help is greatly appreciated :) my soldering skills are basically non existent so if i dont need to do any additional modding to the snes mini i have on the way, that would be great news to hear :)

To restore csync you just need a wire and a resistor, same for RGB, luma and chroma.
Here's show how you can do the mod: http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=av:snes2rgb

The second question I can not help, sorry :|

Thanks, but the snes mini has already been "modded for rgb output", does that mean it also has csync restored? are they basically the same thing? or are they 2 different seperate mods?

Is the same mod but Csync is optional, sure is better then composite video as sync but not mandatory for RGB output.

You should open your snes and check if csync is wired If you want to be 100% sure.
