Question - PVM 20L4 Vs BVM 20F1E

Post by JaFFa »

Hi Guys,

I currently have a great PVM 20L4 running in my set up and I'm pretty happy with it. HOwever I have the chance to 'upgrade' to a BVM 20F1E.

Would the difference in your opinion be enough to warrant the effort / expense (£150 net) ?

Or should I hold out for something that could accept 480p ? As I feel I'm missing that element at the moment.

Thanks for any opinions,

Dave

If I had the chance to snag an extra BVM at that price I'd do it, but I wouldn't get rid of the L4 either.

I suppose 480p is nice but you're probably limited by what's available. If the size is right for you it makes sense, but I wouldn't put all my eggs in the 480p basket either.

OK, I've only got space for one, so I'd be selling the L4.

Is the quality markedly better on BVM's ?

The F tier should have a 900TVL spec, while the L4 has 800TVL. In my experience 800TVL is pretty darn good even for 480p, let alone 240p content where it should make no difference. Even 650TVL tubes in this size are more than adequate for any 240p content.

So, in short, I agree - not markedly better, no.

If space is an issue, the BVM won't help you since it's bigger.
