Dodonpachi PS1 in Yoko Mode?
Can somebody tell me if it's one of those wobble modes or if it's like the Saturn port in yoko?

Are you talking about regular Yoko mode or the Tate Yoko option DDP has? And what is a "wobble mode"? I'm playing it now and can check for what you want, but I need to understand it firstMrOldSchoolCool wrote:Can somebody tell me if it's one of those wobble modes or if it's like the Saturn port in yoko?

Wobble mode is where a standard 3:4 aspect ratio is presented in 4:3 fullscreen at full width, essentially zooming in and only showing a portion of the typical vertical playing field at any given time. You have to scroll up to see the upper portion of the screen and subsequently back down again to get to the bottom. During gameplay this effect, along with the normal scrolling playfield, makes the vertical playing area "wobble" around - hence the name.
Many 32-bit era arcade ports offer a fullscreen (or approximation thereof) scaling down of 3:4 into 4:3 display. i.e. you get full vertical height on a 4:3 aspect ratio display, but with black borders either side (or the game moves status displays there, Saturn Dodonpachi and Kingdom Grand Prix do this).
Others simply zoom in to show the full horizontal width in 4:3 and the extra vertical accessible via "wobble" (Saturn Gekirindan and Kyukyoku Tiger II, for example, have this as the only way to play in yoko).
(I have no idea what PSX Dodonpachi offers)

OK, that's what I thought, thanks for clarifying.TransatlanticFoe wrote:Wobble mode is where a standard 3:4 aspect ratio is presented in 4:3 fullscreen at full width, essentially zooming in and only showing a portion of the typical vertical playing field at any given time. DDP's Yoko mode doesn't cut off anything on the left and right it just crunches it all down a little bit with just a tiny bit off the top and bottom, it seems. Here's what it looks like (running on PSP, which acts just like a regular size 4:3 TV.) It doesn't scroll or wobble while playing.
