So, what's up with Fire Shark sound chip?
I know it is a Hitachi MCU and it is protected in some way. But I've yet to find any info about what is the problem dumping it exactly. Is there any volatile memory that breakes the board sound when you attempt to tamper it in any way? Also why the Same! Same! Same! PCB is so damn expensive? Last time I saw one for ~190,000 yen.

To dump it you need to physically destroy the chip, or find a way to get the chip to show you the ROM content (probably impossible, but who knows). That, combined with the high price tag, is why it hasn't been dumped yet.

<S.Yagawa> I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go.

Is there anyone skilled enough for this job? We could make a fundraiser. The game should be preserved intact.trap15 wrote:To dump it you need to physically destroy the chip, or find a way to get the chip to show you the ROM content (probably impossible, but who knows). Sorry, didn't know there is such a project already. Alas some asshole stole Fire Shark chip from them.
