Sorry if this is posted somewhere but I'm having a hard time finding a good doc on the timeline of Sony CRT monitors and their features/specs.
I snagged 2 of them locally but I feel like they're the old gen and the picture is OK over s-video for some retro movies.

Re: Sony CRT monitor timeline?
I'd love to see a full timeline of Sony displays as well.
Well at least starting with colour sets.
Tough job! It's gigantic.

Re: Sony CRT monitor timeline?
From the late 80s to the mid 90s I called Sony once a year to have them send over a new catalogue. Better than any Playboy back in the days
I've never seen any of them online in any form. A few of the broadcase brochures can be found online and since they usually cover several years of releases they're a good start to build something like a timeline.

Re: Sony CRT monitor timeline?
How many generations are there? Per year? I've seen BVMs with date codes spanning at least 2 years.
Maybe, maybe I'll try to update the OP. Here are the monitors I've ran across so far.
PVM-M2/M4 series - 1997
PVM-L2MD(medical) series - ???
PVM-M2MD(medical) series - 1997
BVM-F/E series - 1995/2004(?)
BVM-A series - 2006

Re: Sony CRT monitor timeline?
I think my PVM-L2 is from 2004, but I'd have to check.

Re: Sony CRT monitor timeline?
Dozens of different PVMs aside, there are at least 3 generations of BVMs with analogue chassis (2010, 2011, 2016) and three generations of BVMs with digital chasses (BVM, BVM-D and BVM-A). F/E/G are quality sub-classes of the first digital BVM series.

Re: Sony CRT monitor timeline?
to add to the list, my PVM-14n6u is from 2003.
What id really like to know, is how late did sony build PVM crts? the newest one ive seen for sale was from 2007.
another thing, what year did sony stop making 4:3 Pvms larger than 20"?
All the ones i see are from the 90s.

The 'Sony Display Products General Catalogue' (year 2000 issue) features lots of crt's from 14" to 32", including;
18 PVM models
14 BVM models
2 PGM models
The 'Sony General Catalogue 07 08' features only two;
BVM-A20F1M
BVM-A14F5M
