Anyone making their own joysticks from scratch?

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

Hello all,

I've recently purchased some joystick buttons and a stick.
The buttons feel good joystick feels OK but I need to get it mounted yet to really have an opinion.

You can get a kit for about $30 it seems.

An excellent guide can be found here:

I plan to make an enclosure out of MDF with some oak sides.
I'll probably paint the MDF and stain the oak.

I've been kind of wondering about making one with an Arduino as the controller too.
It would be more programmable and you could swap out system connectors.

So beyond simply modding, has anyone made their own joystick?
I'd like to see what people have come up with if so!

Hey Pixel_Outlaw.

I made one for a supergun (DB-15 output) and picked up a PS360+ to interface it with other systems. Lots of fun. Did you see the custom sticks thread here on shmups? http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6622

Ah perhaps this thread is not needed.
I thought we had something a while back but didn't see it when I searched.
