Not sure to trade my NEC XM29plus for a PVM 2950QM to help someone out.
Never owned a PVM 2950QM before. Can anybody with experience tell me the difference, pros and cons of the two? Which is better in your opinion?
My main requirements in order are as follows:
1. Must accept stripped sync signal from LM1881 chip.
2. Picture quality mainly for 240p content
3. Most compatible sync ranges (shouldn't have any issues with fussy sync signals etc)
4. Ease of operation.
That's it. Rest are superficial to me.

That model PVM is literally the only one that's fussy about sync. I'd keep the XM29. It's better in just about every way.

The XM29 is also pretty fussy about sync.... You have to use a LM1881, doesn't sync to 24khz and sometimes doesn't sync with the 75ohm resistor on.daskrabs wrote:That model PVM is literally the only one that's fussy about sync. I'd keep the XM29. It's better in just about every way.
Personally I would keep the XM29, the VGA is very beautiful and the Plus model has way more adjustments and features than the pvm

Thanks for the reply. I am very tempted to keep it now. What I mean about fussy sync is that sometimes pcbs etc can output sync ranges that some monitors cannot pick up. My Pioneer V402 had a hard time picking up sync from some of my Toaplan pcbs for example whereas my BVM 20F1E has worked with just about everything I have ever thrown at it.
