Ikaruga double play video (watch the hands of a master!)

Post by undamned »

Video showing both gameplay and the hands doing the work. I think this has been around for a while, but I had never watched it:

Its the 1st time I see Ikaruga in action.

It seems to be an amazing game, much better than Radiant Silvergun.

And the replay is awesome...

These vids are rather old. VTF-INO (the player featured) has moved on to other things since then.

Perhaps it's just the screen-shots on ikaruga.co.uk.... but it seems that they only got one of the versions "with hands". Is this true? Cause I have two versions of every video featured on that page... one without hands (the initial version) and one with hands. For a few of them, he actually did second and third runs, showing improvement each time.

I'm more impressed by how deft and dextrous his movements are, than his actual in-game skill. Controlling two ships with two hands at the same time (to this degree) must take some serious mental muscle, and I'm not talking in terms of traditional notions of intelligence...

I like how he swirls both ships into the boss explosion, then as the flames clear he makes them come out as the opposite colors.

I gave up on Ikaruga after watching VTF-INO's videos.

For shame...

Exactly. After watching Ikaruga Appreciate DVD, Ikaruga.co.uk videos, and VTF-INO's videos... Playing the game seemed so pointless to me, because I knew I would never play that good in my lifetime.

I'm guessing you are both being sarcastic here, otherwise thats pretty sad if you could never watch a superplay with that kind of attitude.

Geez, that guy is awesome! I take it that theres no chance of foul play and that these vids are authentic? If so, im flabbergasted...

Heh, with that attitude you should give up at life and bag sand for the red cross.

I am sure everyone here is capable of doing the dual play.

It actually just inspires me to try harder. ie: "if he makes controlling two ships look so easy, why can't I do it with one?"

The danger here is in comparing yourself to others. I did it, but I just took it with a grain of salt that whoever did this is a better Ikaruga player then me; it's not going to ruin my enjoyment of shmups.

There will ALWAYS be someone doing it better, faster, smarter, and with more money. This applies to all areas of life, not just gaming. It's difficult for me to avoid comparing myself to others, but I know I must try, because I know that comparison is psychologically ruinous. Ask any counselor or therapist and I guarantee you that they'll tell you the same thing.
