Anyone tried this monitor, and know if it is a quality tube?
Its tempting to buy one since it comes brand new and 29"
Anyone know how many TV Lines it has?
Makvision can probably not be compared to a bvm, but I already have a sony 24" bvm, but in 4:3 mode it is around 19" and sometimes it would be nice to have a bigger screen.

I think there was a youtube video if you haven't seen that already.
From the looks of it it looked pretty nice I thought. But it's definitely different from seeing it in person.
Man you already own a very nice bvm yourself what do you want another monitor for?
Haha just kidding, I feel you. I like being able to play further back from the tv.

Re: Makvision 29" Tri-Mode CRT Arcade Monitor
I have searched around for info, but there is not too much to find. I have seen several youtube videos of people swapping tubes in their arcade machines and making a review of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG04AWNeZAc
And by the looks of it on video it looks pretty nice, and the guy seems happy with it. But the scan lines seems weak. It is kind of hard to see on video so thats why I wondered about how many TV lines it has.
The tube is produced by Wei Ya, which makes it made in Taiwan. I can see they also have a 38" tube: http://www.weiya.com.tw/products.asp?le=english&fid=26
Could be fun getting one and make a MDF cabinet for it. For home use the tube wont get close to as many hours than a arcade machine that runs 24\7 so it should last a long time

38" tube would be awesome to see in action:) I purchased one of those Makvion 25" on eBay looks exactly like the 29" video. I had problems with it as soon as I turned it on.. I returned it; I ate the shipping but hey I got most of my money back). The monitor could not keep a constant brightness. The monitor brightness would go in and out or low bright, then normal bright.. On top of that, the monitor was not sharp and bright like the MS9 on Egreet 2 or WG D9xxx monitors. I did not like the look of it at all. What I am saying is that a video will not tell you much and we do have different eye site and preference. If there was a way to "test drive" the arcade monitors before buying, we would be living in a better world.. 1980's:). I ended up hunting down a WD D9200 locally. I paid a premium for that monitor but I was familiar with the tube since I have a WD D9800 and I was not disappointed.

Right. As I suspected the quality is not top notch. You might got unlucky and got a faulty product.. who knows.
Anyway, If I buy one I'm stuck with it because I have to bring it overseas and spend 1000$++ total to get one. And that's for the 29"
If I want a bigger screen It might be better to get 32" bvm. then i have 24" in 4:3 mode. But still the 38" would be really cool
