Re: Atomic Robo-Kid custom CPU replacement
Wow, that's pretty masterful. I hope potential users of this fix will jump on your offer!
So, is there any chance of using this module on something like a Ninja-Kid II, or at least a similar design idea?
I'm really happy with your work here - it gives hope that maybe some of the more bizarre anti-piracy devices that are now failing on other hardware can be fixed in an elegant way.

Re: Atomic Robo-Kid custom CPU replacement
Ninja-Kid II uses a suicide battery unfortunately, it's a different type of module.
However there is already a fix documented here for that game:
http://tjaberg.com/ninja_kid_2/index.htm
It reminds me though, I have a Ninja Kid II which isn't a bootleg and has no security whatsoever. I should check it's dumped, may just be bad info floating around though.

That looks like a bootleg from what I can make out, mine looks like this:

So either someone desuicided it while preserving the ROM label (possible but difficult with paper labels), or it came that way from UPL.

System11, you are hero. Used to play this on the Amiga. Pretty good port with nice music.

Re: Atomic Robo-Kid custom CPU replacement
I don't have a sticker on mine, but if you compare mine to an original board, they are pretty much identical in layout and components used. We who participated in getting the first fix found in your link (the discussion took place on a Swedish forum) had a theory it was some sort of aftermarket licensed board.system11 wrote:That looks like a bootleg from what I can make out
