Neogeo's hardware slowdown?

Post by infested_ysy »

I've been playing Blazing Star on MAME recently, and I noticed that I get slowdowns during major bossfights, especially when the boss spams the whole screen full of bullets (though it's NOTHING compared to the amount of bullets in a typical bossfight in Mars Matrix)...

Is this due to the emulation's problem, or NeoGeo's arcade hardware's problem? And speaking of which, why is it that some of the Metal Slug 2 arcade cabinets has major slowdowns (the explosions in the desert stage alone is staggering), while Metal Slug X cabinets didn't have such problems?

I'm not sure about the Blazing Star question, but I have an answer for the differences in MS2 and MSX. MS2 was made using 362 megs and it had major slow down. MSX is kind of like an updated MS2 (rather what MS2 should have really been) and it was made with 506 megs. That's all I got for ya if that helps.

Yeah, one of the reasons X exists is because of the slowdown in MS2.

Can't help you with the BS question.

Slowdowns abound on the Neo-Geo.
I've played many of the games in MVS form as well as AES...and the best emu is Kawa-X!!!
They all suffer the same amounts of slowdown. Thats just how it is/was.
