JVC DT-V1710CG "out of range" and other issues

Post by WonderDunk »

Hi Guys,
I was finally lucky enough to get myself a JVC monitor with the rather rare RGB card for a fairly low price but I have yet to get the thing up and running.
Just hoping to get some tips and advice from the experts here about what I can do to fix it. So far I've tried all the settings I can change and tried a variety of signals but the only time I get anything from the screen is when I hook up my Wii at 480i but even then all I get is the following mess of pictures.

Im using the standard BNC to Male scart and a reccomended RGB scart switch and have tried a tonne of different signals (240p suite, various consoles, DVD players) but other than those brief glimpses I get from the Wii I can't get a solid pic out of it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers

No experience with the JVCs, but if's anything like the Sonys we have the monitor probably set to internal sync, so the monitor's looking for a sync signal on the actual RGB lines instead of locking to an external sync signal
Im using the standard BNC to Male scart
mind the direction of the cable. These are not bi-directional and the ones using MALE scart usually run *from* BNC *to* Scart, not the other way around.

The cable I bought was the one specifically for coming out of a switch so unless the seller goof'd hopefully its not that. As for the internal/external sync, when its set to external all I get is a "No Sync" message and absolutely no response from the monitor. Any other details I can post to help get to the bottom of this do you think?

but that one you can easily check. The sync BNC line has to connect to pin 19. If it connects to pin 20 it's the wrong direction.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but how would I go about checking that?

open the scart connector (just unscrew at the bottom and flap open) and have a look.

Its a bit of a mess but it looks like you may be right, the yellow cable is connected to pin 20. I'll have a word with Mr. Retrogamecables this week and see if I can get one going the right direction... Thanks for the help mate!
