Please help me find Guwange stuff

Post by PaCrappa »

After being away from my vertical cabinet for over a year, I am now absolutely fiending on Guwange. My "skills" haven't slipped too far either. I got about a minute into stage 5 yesterday after not playing for a year!

Anyway, I'm pretty fascinated by the game and am looking for anything that relates to it. I've already got Mode 7's "Everything I need to know about Guwange...", Gaijin Punch's translation and that 403MB replay from I think ikaruga.co.uk

I am looking for anything. Official art, fan art, other translations, other strategies, UFO plushies, action figures, Shishin costumes or anything at all that relates Guwange. Actually, no more replays. I don't much like to see too many of those.

Thanks in advance,
PaCrappa

I love this damn game. I popped it in last week and really put some time and studying into it. I had to bomb quite a bit (which just goes against everything in this game) but I pulled a 1CC out of my ass a couple of days ago, which makes this my 3rd Cave 1CC, and the only real impressive one (the other two are Mushihime-sama original and ESPGaluda).

Anyways, I dug this out of an Arcadia issue I picked up. The only thing extra in it are some of Inoue's thoughts on the bosses of stage 4, 5, and 6. Nothing major. I love the graphic though.

Here's a bigger one. Would love to get that on a stick somehow.

There's also the "soundtrack" which someone ripped out of MAME. You can download it over at Click Stick.

I'm sure you've checked it out already but just in case there is loads of art in the oficial Cave page which can be found here.Just scroll down to the Guwange section.
There is also the incredible translation work of GaijinPunch which can be found here which details the story etc and an interview with Joker Jun who did the art can be found here.
Again sorry if you have already seen this stuff.
finally a couple of cool sprite rips for you

DUDE! That was the whole reason I was trying to get Arcadia #1. Thanks for the scan, Gaijin! I'm wondering if it is the same dimensions as my long Dangun promo flyer?

Now, Guwange wallpapers would kill this weak heart of mine, especially wallpapers for the PSP... my God, imagine the sweetness.

Damn, Guwange's a game I should try and 1CC (and then come over and show off :D), but unfortunately I'm out of town at the moment. I've seen plenty of stuff about it, but I think Ord and GaijinPunch covered most of it. Some of that fanart is very well made, and I never thought I'd see anyone cosplaying that game.

Actually, if anyone ever finds any Guwange action figures, I might be interested in those myself. Especially that giant, pustulating demon baby. I'd LOVE to have that one on display.

Not sure. It's definitely not A4. You should've told me you were after that -- they had at least one other one in Mak JP. They still might. I actually got this one off of Yahoo though.

One last note. If you're really a fan of the style of the game, you should check out the Otogi Matsuri manga. It's a pretty easy to follow story, and is very Guwange-ish, but set in a small town of modern Japan. Some of the monsters from Guwange make appearances as well, as you can see from pics.

LOL those ESPGaluda cosplay pics are funny as the poses are all serious until at the end when they break character to get something to eat. :D

Cool man. At the moment I haven't even bothered to decipher my score or really even work on chaining. I figure the "extends" aren't score based so better to work on the 1CC first and save scoring (and caring about it) for later. I understand how to make chains and use bullets to keep them alive when no enemies are present so after awhile, I should be able to get some score going.

Best shooter EVER!

Stage 5 is busy, but stage 6 is ridiculous. I've only gotten that far a couple of times, but needless to say I didn't last long ;)

This thread inspired me to get back to Guwange, I had an awesome run of the first few stages yesterday (broke 6,000 coins, a new record ), but stage 5 is, again, destroying me. My hands were shaking involuntarily through the second half of it, which probably caused some problems. Gotta calm down...

I get that way too. I think I almost saw the stage 5 boss last night. Those crazy sword slingin samurai types wasted me good. I'd have never ever made it as far as I did if I hadn't had like five bombs saved up.

Are you working this Sunday or what man?

I'm getting done with work at 1PM. I've got some stuff going on in the afternoon (recruiter from a college I want to go to is in town), but I'm free in the evening, and don't work on Monday, so I'd be good to do whatever.

Actually you are completely right! And for that i apaologise Slateman. I've been using you gifs for avatars and such and it was all you work. In truth i'm, grateful for you work and look forward to whatever it is you do next (only this time I'll mention you). Cheers my man. (Oh and if this sounds sarcastic please be assured that it's not). :)

No. It's a Sigma. When I meant "can buy" I meant (semi) commercial. Although Matt's (from what I've seen) are top notch.

I generally have more trouble w/ Stage 5 than 6 (except for a few shitty parts in 6). I realized that you have to use a lot of the normal shot... more than most stages, to not only keep the coins going, but to kill the people before they start spamming bullets. I always screw up when it goes to horizontal scrolling. Those dancing bitches always hit me.

Oh, yeah -- I find the 5th stage boss pretty easy when compared to the stage.

One last note. If you're really a fan of the style of the game, you should check out the Otogi Matsuri manga. It's a pretty easy to follow story, and is very Guwange-ish, but set in a small town of modern Japan. Some of the monsters from Guwange make appearances as well, as you can see from pics.
Whoa, whoa, whoa...is there any possibility that a silly American like me would be able to acquire these books, GP??? Are there any Anime sites that have these up for sale?

I got mine off of Yahoo Japan Auctions via Rinkya, a while back. Super art. I may actually be convinced to give them up if you are really interested ;)
