It seems like the game becomes noticably harder if you're playing for score, since you need to use the standard laser cannon over the fixed burst in order to get the bonus multiplier.

Also fuck the swarms of curving lasers, especially the ones on the mirage castle variants.

Top 5 for me

1. Gigantic Bite
2. GTV
3. Homing laser turrets
4. Failed counterburst
5. Phantom Castle

(haven't played EX much yet and only fought GTB once)

The Phantom Castle hate is real. Some of the EX routes using Origin certainly look harder than DOJ 1-ALL? But this is sort of the polar opposite of a bullet hell shooter so the skillset is different

edit: got 1CC for all AC original routes, that was a lot easier than some CS missions

I can't think of one reason you'd get a european account instead of a US one?

My hatred for Phantom Castle is immense and I'm extremely glad to see the above.

Here's a pretty rad feature on Darius from Forbes, I never knew the original Darius bosses were created by Tatsunoko productions, that shit is cray-cray!!

So, anyone know how they can defeat Gigantic Bite? I feel really eager to fight it. I'm always ready for a challenge. If anything, though, I hope Azure Nightmare and Gigantic Bite aren't as hard as, let's say, Titanic Lance from Darius Gaiden or any version of Great Thing.

I've read up a bit about the "arcade cabinet" and im still a bit oblivious about the workings, however i was wondering if (whatever it exactly is) it's shared between vita and ps4?

Yes it is.

There are certain Chronicle Mode missions that require you to complete them with 2, 3 or 4 players, which isn't possible on the Vita. These missions can be completed by PS4 players, so it's safe to say the Chronicle Mode progress is cross platform.

So let me get this straight...the game itself is 10 bucks more than on Steam, the rather simple online component of sharing completed cabinets requires PS+ (additional costs) and there's no launch discount either. Oh, and they didn't even bother to translate the digital art book!
Perfect textbook example how NOT to release a shmup on PS4

Yeah okay, valid points I suppose. But the Dual Shock light bar LIGHTS UP THE SAME COLOR AS YOUR SHIP. Have a heart, please.

Online functionality does not require PS+ for any game that I'm aware of. It's only online multiplier that requires PS+, which DBCS does not have.

Can anyone confirm if the PC version and PSN versions share cabinets?

In any case I'll probably double dip with the PS4 version in a few weeks.

Once the physical vita version hits I'll end up triple dipping :3

I wonder if that's a generic disclaimer. The game doesn't support online multiplayer so I don't see how it could force that requirement.

I assume CS does'nt require any 2 play simultaneous play to progress. Just a community effort of whoever plays while online i think?

Anything that supports online sharing/communication within a game via online requires Plus. So if this has a community based thing going on, this would be the reason for it saying that.

CS mode is entirely your progress.

Chronicle Mode, for 100% completion, is going to require someone somewhere in the world to complete the relevant missions with 2, 3 and 4 players. :)

How does AC Mode text scaling on PS4 look compared to Vita?

Pretty certain that's not the case. I managed to play a load of Destiny with all of its non-multiplayer online interactions with other players, Mortal Kombat X with its faction content and various online scoreboards, friend challenges, etc, all without PS+.

Has anyone tried playing the PS4 version on VITA with Remote Play?

Looking for some impressions on that.

As somebody who's waiting for the Japanese Vita version, I'm curious how it holds up. Is it 60fps? Any obvious compromises from the Steam/PS4/PCB versions?

From what I've seen the scaling of AC mode down to the Vita screen goes about as well as you'd expect it to, but it does run smoothly.

Is there an in-game screen size setting I'm missing on PS4? It seems to be ignoring my system setting, and I've got about half a ship length going off either side of the screen in AC mode.

Edit: derp, found the "stop futzing with the screen size" option on my TV.
