Stolen stuff that you miss
During one of my last moves I'm pretty sure one of my cousins stole every last one of my Gamecube games. There's been more than a few times I've wanted to fire up F-Zero GX again. But I can't bring myself to buy any of the games again. Not having the gameboy player disc anymore is a huge bummer too.
I also used to have this tiny 9v Fender mini twin amp that I used all the time. It sounded so disgusting. One of my friends stole it. I miss it sometimes. The new tiny Fender amps just don't sound the same to me.
Ever had any stuff stolen that you miss?

I've been way to careless and naive in my younger years, and lent records I loved to the wrong people. Once it was about 50 vinyl records and a few CDs, but I've since rebought the important ones.

Re: Stolen stuff that you miss
Late in high school I was in an advanced art class doing studio work -- lots of pencil drawings, some pen/ink, some charcoal, and a series of 12 paintings as a 'capstone project.' One of them was exhibited at the county fair. It was hung upside down (which really pissed me off since I had labeled it on the back to avoid exactly that issue).
When the fair ended it was gone. They told me that I had taken it back -- which I hadn't, of course.
Looking back on it I don't even really want it back (I'm not a huge fan of some of the work I did in that class), but it just really depresses me that someone stole it. Why would you even do that?

Perfect Dark, and Mario Kart Advance in my youth. I've replaced neither.
What's worse is that they must've been taken by friends I had welcomed into my home.
Also a laptop stolen from my bag in a public place, I don't even know when I let my guard down. But the shitty old thing couldn't be on for ten minutes without overheating and dying so whichever cunt took it is welcome to it.
Just hate the idea that someone out there could potentially access some stuff that was personal to me.

Re: Stolen stuff that you miss
I can think of only one item of mine - a comics album - which might have been stolen that I miss. The person who was suspected of it has been leaving many valuable comics in my (or my relative's) place since then and hardly ever asked to have them back, though, so if it was really him, that could be just his nonchalant way with belongings rather than mean intent.
My friend (I don't speak this word lightly) borrowed my first chipped PS2 and I haven't heard of him since then, but 1) I replaced it easily and 2) it was a toxic relationship anyway, so I should probably be thankful it waned at a relatively small cost. I don't speak this lightly either, but it's not like I can live other people's lives in their stead, is it?

Like emphatic, I lent movies and albums in my youth to people who didn't respect me enough to return them. But I see that as an important life lesson and don't really miss those items.

Re: Stolen stuff that you miss
I don't think I've ever had anything stolen. At one point I sold my N64 to get a Playstation and reeeeeally regretted it (and bought one again shortly thereafter). Lesson learned.
I once bought a copy of Xenosaga for a friend's birthday and they had it stolen during a party which must've sucked (that or he was lying and lost or traded it for something else).

Original black & yellow Symphony of the Night disc. They got everything else I owned at that point as well, but of all the things that one bothered me the most.

Books mostly. A photobook by Tilt which has a personal message from a close friend written in it. I asked for it back about a dozen times but the arsehole that borrowed it never returned it. Couple of Brett Easton Ellis paperbacks too. Oh and a copy of The Creator's album on vinyl that was stolen out of my record bag, still salty about that.

One of my favorite watches walked away when my kitchen floor was being remodeled. That still pisses me off.

I had a pair of Vintage Cazal 951 stolen from my truck around Christmas time. They are the same model of sunglasses Egyptian Lover wore in the 80s. I miss them so much

Re: Stolen stuff that you miss
Had my car broken into and all my college text books were stolen along with the stereo that was in the car. This happened a few days before midterms and I ended up having to drop out of one of the classes that semester.
Another that wasn't necessarily stolen was my copy of super punch out that had two sub 5 second KOs on gabby jay and piston hurricane. I lent it to a friend who then lent it to a kid I did not get along with (got in fights with him and I beat the shit out of his younger brother) but he ended up killing himself in front of his parents by stabbing himself in the neck a bunch of times. So yeah I never got that back.

i lent a friend of a friend my copy of killer instinct, a game I loved at the time, and when I tried to get it back I found out he had traded it for something else! I don't even remember what game I got back instead now but I was so fucking angry about it.

I lent my copy of Xenon 2 on the Atari ST to my mate who subsequently had his house burgled and walkies it went.
I also completed a beginners course in Japanese and I left the certificate over my friends house which promptly burned down the following week so I never got that back. Luckily I managed to liberate my copy of God of War 2 the previous week so I saved that from a firey death.

I used to have a green power ranger (tony) beyblade that this kid stole from me in 5th grade. It was my favorite one. He also used to pick his nose and eat his boogers. I still bump into the guy every once in awhile (last time I bumped into him was a couple of years ago), and in the back of my mind I remember him as the booger eating beyblade thief.
a non-related story, but
kinda weird I remember stuff like that..

Spoiler
I had a goldberg action figure in 5th grade that went missing from my locker. It was obviously my favorite one. I went to a catholic school and we didn't have locks on our lockers. there was one notorious kid who used to steal stuff all the time, so during our break I went into his locker and found it in his backpack. I showed the teacher and I got in trouble for going through other peoples' belongings. I still remember the look on his face when he saw me with it in my hands. we ended up working at an ice rink together about 6 years later too.

The older we get, the less we have to anticipate, so our awareness reaches way back in time. No wonder the elderly spend their free time browsing through the library of memories.

I forgot that I let my little sister take my NES to college. Some idiot stole Mike Tyson's Punch Out from her appartment.

This. I lost count of how many records and CDs I lost to shitty friends. I also lost about half of my console games when I got divorced. I'm not sure if that counts as stealing since I told her to take whatever she wanted, but I wasn't exactly pleased.emphatic wrote:I've been way to careless and naive in my younger years, and lent records I loved to the wrong people. I was flying back with my parents after a visit to my grandparent's place. I explicitly remember putting my favorite blanket on top of all of my clothes in the luggage. When we get home and I unpack, it isn't there! I was devastated. There is no way it wasn't deliberately taken out.
Now keep in mind that this blanket had been with me ever since I was born, we're talking about literally taking a part of someone's childhood away.

Only thing I can think of that's been nicked is a few records that I lent out in the mid 90's and didn't get back. I know I lost this, this and this plus more that I've forgotten over the years. Re-buying them nowadays wouldn't be a problem if I wanted to but back in the 90's it was much more annoying.
Re: Stolen stuff that you miss
My wife's Canon with a really nice 50 mm lens disappeared from our apartment some years back. I suspect a friend of my son's, but can't prove anything. Anyway, got her a Nikon instead so all's restored to the better
My car got stolen some 15 years back. That didn't really bother me though since I got about what I was expecting to sell it for from the insurance. What really bugged me was the Japanese first press CD's in the CD changer I never got back

I had my red 3DS stolen a couple days after they came out when I let a friend borrow it to check out the glasses free 3D. He said someone broke in his car.
I don't really miss that model since it was the first, but I do miss having one. The new 3DSXL's are great & I've missed out on a lot of greatness. I never even got a chance to play Kid Icarus.
When I get one again, it'll be the latest model & I'm immediately going for those Sega 3D classics like Galaxy Force & Space Harrier.
I'll prob play through Order of Ecclesia again as well. They are still backwards compatible I assume?

One of my friends stole a 6 year old bottle of wine from my house. Its fucking disgusting.
The other thing stolen from me is a little more traumatic.

Back in 2008 I had most of my ps2 and japanese cinema collection stolen by a moving company. It took me a long time to get back on my feet. I seriously almost gave up video gaming. Still had God Hand, Nocturne and Silent Hill 2. FUCK YOU MOVERS!!!

My N64 has been lost for years. Its either at my house or my cousin's. I know she wouldn't steal it, but that doesn't mean someone else that visits her house would. She has scummy friends. Its lost until its stolen. It could just be at my house somewhere hidden.
My SNES was loaned and never returned for years. I even sent someone to get it for me and he never returned it to me. That was 20 years ago. I've given up home and I guess that wasn't stolen

Re: Stolen stuff that you miss
It wasn't stolen, but I lost all of my PSP games on holiday in Greece a few years back. I still haven't restored my collection (largely because now my PSP is dead too).
