Rules: Set difficulty to Normal or higher (Arcade recommended). First credit scores only. Keep all other settings on default (Bomb & Ship stocks at 3). You may use either the PS2, PC, or Type-X PCB versions to submit scores. The arcade table is maxed at 25 entries. Watch out that you don't go kerplunk when a new entry arrives. Normal and Double modes will max out at 15 entries. A Boss Rush table will be added when the first score from that mode is submitted.

UPDATES
7-7-7: Arrogant Bastard's score removed on request (accidentally played on Easy). I am sorry about the long time since the last update. New entries are submitted by ktg, themachinist, jpj, Deets, The vagrant, and sword. If you'd like to take over the Raiden III score list, please let me know- thanks.

Since there's been more interest lately, Normal and Double modes now max out at 15, not 10 as before.

*UPDATED 9/30*

Name-ForteMP3
Mode-Solo
Score-3756560
Level-3
Difficulty-Arcade

Name-ForteMP3
Mode-Double
Score-2112000
Level-2
Difficulty-Arcade

Double mode is tough, but one of these days I'll get it!
Speaking of which, table might need a SLIGHT change, Dual Mode is actually for two separate players, Double is for one player using both ships.

Question though...is there any chance we could go for more than one topic, or set of high scores for this? IE, for each mode? I'd like to see what some people are pulling off in Dual Play Mode.

Might be a good idea. And perhaps separate those playing with defaults and those playing with arcade difficulty to their own table?

Speaking of which...

6,139,020 - Stage 4 - Ghegs (Arcade)

Uh yeah, please make seperate tables for Arcade and Normal difficulties. I haven't tried Normal yet but if it's anything like Raiden DX the difference will be huge.

11,077,250 - Stage 6 - cigsthecat - (Arcade)

I really hate that part at the end of Stage 6 with the indestructible little balls. Who let the hori into my vertical shooter?

sffan - 6,107,030 - Level 4 - Difficulty: Normal

I'm assuming the rules here include the default settings for Bomb Stock (3) and Player Stock (3). Is that correct?

The only non-default setting I use is the screen mode (Arcade B).

Sure- I'll go ahead and add a dual play score list.

That's right. I'll go up and add that to the main post.

In stages 1 & 2 I'll mostly use the laser and R missiles all the way. After that- it's the red curtainfire shot for stages 3 & 4. I made it to the 4th boss and knocked off part of the left wing.

Has anyone experienced a glitch where you can't move down at some point fighting the stage 6 boss? It seems like it'd be a controller problem, but I've had this happen 3 or 4 times now, all at the stage 6 boss and only with this game. Really annoying, probably would've seen stage 7 without it.

I decided to switch to Arcade mode since I noticed the in-game scoreboard shows the difficulty level with that little bar-gage, so I can know which scores are what. And since Arcade seems to be the popular choice 'round here.

sffan - 4,582,730 - Arcade - Level 3

Played 3 times so far, Stage 4 really gets chaotic.

professor ganson - 6,040,870 - Stage 4 (Normal)

I was really stuck for a while, so breaking 6 mil felt like a million bucks. Stage 4 has a nice look.

EDIT: gameoverdude, is it true that you're in Ohio as well? (I read this in the shmupmeet part of the forum today.) In any case, thanks for doing a nice job with this thread-- I like your update comments.

Getting the hang of the game, still need to understand what to bomb and why.
