Anyone know of or attempted a fanless mod for PS2 and/or DC?

In my quest for asinine optimizations, I've wondered about making PS2 and DC fanless to make them completely silent. I tried researching but the most I've found is people replacing the fans in them with non-stock fans, but i'm wondering if there's a way to bulk up or replace the heatsinks so they are passively cooled.

For DC I'm already using a GDEMU, so that's already eliminated the noisy GD-ROM. From what I understand, the DC won't stay powered on if no fan is detected. I understand this means some sort of circuit would need to be made to trick it into thinking a fan is connected and running even if it had enough passive cooling.

For PS2 I'm loading games off a HDD which I can soon replace with a SD card mentioned in Arasoi's topic as soon as I bother to buy a big enough SD card. The DVD-ROM in it barely works, so I could just flat out remove it to make more space. After that I think there would be enough room for passive cooling, but I don't know how to go about upgrading/mounting a better heatsink.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience on the matter?
