Mapping X360 triggers in MAME

Post by Zeether »

Does anyone know how to keep the Xbox 360 controller triggers from registering as the Z axis in MAME? I'm trying to play Side by Side and I can't map them to throttle and brake because it acts like they're both on the same axis and it's kind of frustrating. I've tried using Joy2Key and Xpadder and neither work.

Not answering your question, I know, but is it possible to map accelerate and brake/reverse onto the right stick? The way I like my car games and, thankfully, BG3 allows me to have my way with it.

Microsoft intentionally gimped Directinput support of the 360 controller with this (Xinput native games register the two triggers as separate axes). I've had the same problem with SSF and I've found no solutions online.

XBCD is your friend. It has a utility to change the behaviour of the triggers to what you need but you may need to mess around in the INI regarding deadzones for the axes since iirc the internal UI doesn't have it editable that way.
