HELP!!! WHY DOES MY NEW FRAMEMEISTER KEEP CUTTING OUT!?!?!?

Post by laughgasm »

Hey guys!

I really need some help! I have been following the Framemeister for over a year and finally plucked up the courage to buy one. Upon buying it and the correct cables...

E.G. "EuroSCART to Framemeister XRGB mini passive adapter cable" and "6 ft For Sony Playstation 2 PS2 PS3 RGB 1.8M Scart TV AV Lead AV Cable (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201158708449? ... EBIDX%3AIT)"

Now when I play the WII, it is fine and doesn't cut out, but when I play my PS2 it will be fine for about 20 mins, they it starts to cut off, to my blank tv screen, then back onto the Framemeister. These occurrences begin to speed up until sadly it is absolutely unplayable. I have sunk over £300 into this venture and was absolutely exited to finally have a beautiful image again, but alas I am now beginning to feel a sense of worry that my Framemeister is broken. :(

I am hoping this is some sort of screen lag or something, but I could really do with some better more informed mind to help diagnose what is up and finally get this working smoothly!!!

Thank you so much for your time guys! :D

It might also have something to do with possibly the sync timing. Try turning sync mode to off and see if the blanks screens come up anyway.

I have a similar problem from time to time and it's my HDMI cables not being 100% connected. Sometimes even a little sway on the cable will make the Framemeister/Receiver/TV go haywire and loose sync frequently or I get no signal at all. I think it's the HDMI port on the TV that's the problem in my case.

Also, I previously replaced some HDMI cables, even advertised as 1.4, that wouldn't work OK no matter what(PS3 Deep Color for example), so you could try using another brand entirely.

I would buy the a sync stripper to euro scart to xrgb mini cable from retro console accessories on ebay. I had to get one because my 64 would cut off when playing perfect dark.

You plug the power cord from the xrgb into the stripper and the stripper into the power port of the xrgb mini.

Lots of caps makes me feel your frustration. Especially after 350 bucks have been spent

Can we confirm this isn't simply due to the game switching between 240p and 480i?

Thank you so much for the amazingly quick response guys!

First of all, how can I check/stop the game from switching from 240p - 480i?

It runs fine for about 20 mins, then it begins to do the black outs. I was wondering if I needed a Luma Cable as maybe it was getting to bright or something?

All of your help and ideas is of great relief to me and absolutely awesome!

Thank you so much! :D

Some games do that switching for menus, like Silent Hill on the PS1. That will be slow and there's no way around that on the mini. Doesn't sound like that's the case for you though, especially with PS2 games where you mostly aren't dealing with 240p at all. Not sure about the dropouts, but the sync-on-luma cable or sync stripper will help a lot if you are now seeing checkerboard patterns on solid colors (mostly relevant for PS1 games, again).

Ok, as far as I can see, I have managed to get the screen black outs to stop. Now all I get is extreme vertical shaking and what I think is a bit of lag. All of you have helped inform me so much so far. I feel we may be on the home stretch. I am reading a lot of forums everyday, but has anyone got any ideas to help rid me of these final ticks? :)

Thank you all so much for your time and thoughts! :D

Right, I have fixed the lag from what I can see. Now all I have is a lot of vertical jumping and shaking. I have turned off the sync and raised it. But I assume this is to do with my hdmi sync. Is there a type of hdmi anyone can recommend that is perfect for the ps1/ps2?

Thanks guys. :)

I doubt the jumping and shaking has to do with the HDMI cable, but stranger things have happened. My HDMI problem led to either the Framemeister entirely loosing sync and regaining it again, or my receiver/tv dropping the connection with the Framemeister.

I have just bought a XRGB Framemeister and am having the same problem. I am using a Slim TEST PS2, RGB SCART cable into Euro to JP adapter, into Framemeister, using Amazon branded HDMI cable. If I have the vertical tearing do i need a sync stripper?

Hello!

Right I have fixed it!

I have a Euro Sync Stripper going into a Luma and the sync settings turned off and set to zero!

Works a treat! :D

Thank you so much for your help guys! :D

P.s. How do I stop ps2 images splitting into lines every time an image moves? :)

on 480i games you have to set the deinterlacer to standard (or movie or natural), not to picture.

Sync mode should be set to AUTO not OFF, see http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php/XRGB ... #Sync_Mode

Sync mode and sync level do not affect each other.
