Shoot'em Up Music Arrangements

Post by VanillaLucia »

Greetings,

I have a very heavy impression that I'm placing this in the wrong area, but I have a fondness of shoot'em ups enough that I've been basing most of my studies and interests in the hopes of making more (in that I'm a programmer, artist, and a music composer of sorts just to try and jumble things all together).

As a child, I've grown up with games like Raiden II, and later found my way to Super R-Type and later R-Type III. It was not until recently when I've been able to play the rest of the R-Type games (excluding the Command/Tactics games) and even found my way back towards playing Raiden, Raiden III, and Raiden IV, and finally the original version of Raiden II (arcade) and DX. At the moment, I've not delved too much into some original music (but I have it for those interested, but those are contracted pieces), but most of the music I made for shoot'em ups have come off of R-Type Final's and Raiden II's music as major inspirations.

This is some work that I've done in the past while experimenting and learning to arrange and create music:
[131212A] R-Type Final - AI Competition (Select)
[140320A] R-Type Tactics II - Enemy Turn
[150307A] R-Type Leo - Stage 1 (Paradise Planet)

Given that this is September of 2015 and that one of my favorite shoot'em ups of all time has its 25th Anniversary, I took the time in preparing and trying to finish an arrangement project.
For now, I've created a playlist for the entire project but otherwise I have yet to upload the rest of the works that I have done so far for this project.

Impressive work. I've always loved this kind of Techno/trance tunes. Hope you can do more shmup arrangements in the future.

I am not certain of whether or not I'm breaking the rules, but I've updated the first post with a large project of mine that's still going at the moment.
For those not reading the first message, I'll also have the additions appended:

Your Raiden arrangements made my day! :D While we're waiting for more news of Raiden V, I'm so glad I got to enjoy these amazing arrangements! I especially loved Gallantry, you did a way better job arranging that than Daisuke Nagata did on the Raiden IV bonus tracks. That version doesn't do it justice, but yours does! I'm looking forward to anything else you might be arranging as well!

Just listened to the Raiden 25th tracks you've done - marvelous work! You've really nailed the '90s "Redbook audio" sound with Menu Theme and Repeated Tragedy. Gallantry really lends itself well to the techno treatment, too.

Looking forward to hearing/seeing more from you!

That's some awesome work there, thanks for sharing! I gotta say Gallantry is and has always been my favorite Raiden song.
