Hey Guys,
I recently bought a Model 1 non-TMSS Genesis and I have a weird audio issue.
When using composite cables... the audio is fine. When using the RGB cable that pulls stereo from the front headphone jack, I get only very low audio level and a ton of buzzing, the volume slider makes absolutely no difference in the audio level. I figured it was a cable problem and plugged in headphones, but I get the same thing. I pulled the case apart and the contacts look fine.
I am however using a Sega 1602-3 AC adapter, which is 10V DC and 1.2amps.
Technically the Model 1 requires a 9V DC and 1.2amps.
Could the AC adapter be causing the audio issue?

Re: Genesis Audio Issue
ac adapter would not have anything to do with it. maybe the volume slider is broken. something must be wrong with the audio circuit for the 3.5mm jack.

Re: Genesis Audio Issue
you can bypass the volume slider by jumping the identical points on each side of it with wire to test if its bad. if your sound is ok after doing that then the volume slider is the problem.
I hooked up a Mega amp in a va7 and had to figure out the volume slider contacts so i could hook it back up and have it function.

The middle contact is 1 sound channel and the outer cotact with the wire is another sound channel. I forget now wich one is left or right.
you could also measure the continuity by doing the same thing with a continuity test.
basically jump it with your multimeter and see if theres any dead spots on it where it reads 1 ohm.
also, the slider does tend to get a lot of crud in it. contact cleaner or 90% alcohol works good for cleaning the gunk out of the contacts.
I would find my new volume slider on a broken, TMSS genesis and take it from that since i dont think they are available new.
