Shooting Love 200X: US/EU digital release (Games on Demand)
Shooting Love 200X: US/EU digital release (Games on Demand)
I think this is big enough to deserve its own thread, since the original JPN release was region locked.
Marketplace link: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Produ ... 02544707d1 (it's $20)
This was quietly announced for Europe some time ago without a release date or publisher given, and showed up out of nowhere on both the US and EU storefronts today. I expected Rising Star to be involved, but it's self-published by Triangle Service with an English localization, what the hell? They must have gotten Microsoft Japan's assistance on this one like Cave did with DSIIX on GoD, but I'm very surprised that anyone spared the resources to translate it this time.
Rather baffling that Fujino would go ahead with this on his own if he wants to promote Shooting Love Trilogy for Xbox One. I hope this isn't an indication that the project may have been canned. There isn't even an update on T-S's website yet, though there is on their Twitter. If we end up seeing English 360 versions for 10th Anniversary and Ge-sen Love as well, then it's probably a given.
EDIT: Found T-S's English page for the game. They've also opened a new English Youtube channel.

someone confirm region availability (es: what if someone with a jp console buys this in the EU/US store)
Re: Shooting Love 200X: US/EU digital release (Games on Dema
Now that they have an official presence in the West, what are the chances that Triangle Service tries to bring their stuff to Steam? Given current market trends among many other Japanese publishers with a Western following, I'd say it's fairly likely.

Wow this is so random. I will probably get this next time I hook up the 360 but it would be great to see it on PC.

Skill test is hilarious & I'm finding exzeal fun with the first ship.
Not sure why but Exzeal and Trizeal had their difficulty defaulted to Very Hard for me. Not that much harder than normal but it wont allow you to put up scores / replays on the leaderboard.
edit: leaderboards are shared with the japanese version

I have no idea what any of these games are. I guess I'll have to look in to it, but it's probably worth the money. (Too bad most of my videogame budget goes towards old games I'm trying to get while they're affordable)

Well, yeah, random as it can be, might take a look at it if and when I get the chance.

Just got it downloaded, and they were both defaulted to Normal for me, so not sure what the deal was for you. Pretty cool that Triangle Service is reaching out to the western shmup world.

Can someone confirm the translation state of the in-game text? I see the menus are translated but the trailer for the video still has the in-game text for Shmup Skills Test in Japanese.
I'm really glad this is out in the West. It's late in the 360's lifespan for the success I had hoped for but hopefully it'll get Fujino some profits at least.
EDIT: Not seeing it on the Australia Xbox Live site online yet, hopefully it's not going the way of RayForce and ignoring Australia.

Seems like the in game text in skills test is in english, but it's still a little confusing what you're supposed to do occasionally

having Triangle Service doing an english localization for such and obscure title late in the 360 game is a very positive thing imo.
Re: Shooting Love 200X: US/EU digital release (Games on Dema
I was hoping that they'd make their Western debut on the Xbox One while porting all three of their 360 releases in one go, though. Would give them a much better chance of being noticed by people outside these forums.Milspex wrote:having Triangle Service doing an english localization for such and obscure title late in the 360 game is a very positive thing imo.

Would rather this was a physical release - but best to show support for this sort of thing so I'll be buying it.

I would think that the much larger installed userbase of the 360 would be preferable to developers, though I guess there wouldn't be nearly as many other games to compete with on the OnePretas wrote: I was hoping that they'd make their Western debut on the Xbox One while porting all three of their 360 releases in one go, though. Personally, I hope future shmup releases (all 1 of them, or whatever) end up on the 360 until they aren't allowed to anymore.
On the topic of Shooting Love, it seems pretty sweet. I especially like Skills Test (Love that graph at the end!), but Trizeal, and especially Exzeal seem to have a lot of potential. I haven't tried -0 yet. Does anyone know anything about that one? All I know is that it has vector graphics and a lock on attack.

In-game stage names are in English as well. It certainly looks like this is a full translation.BPzeBanshee wrote:Can someone confirm the translation state of the in-game text? I see the menus are translated but the trailer for the video still has the in-game text for Shmup Skills Test in Japanese.

Unfortunately, it's out in ESRB and PEGI countries only (meaning not even all of Europe).
Re: Shooting Love 200X: US/EU digital release (Games on Dema
Given the tiny Xbox One install base Xbox Japan could focus (almost) entirely on digital releases so "Shooting Love. Trilogy" could still be stranded in obscurity on the Japanese marketplace (with the current translation there is at least some hope for an in-game language select). Even right now who outside of these forums is going to notice this Western marketplace release (and much less spend $20 on it)? FYI: For those who don't remember: right, left (2x), A(12x) at the Trizeal Remix "Press Start Button To Start" screen will let you play with the XII Stag/XIIZEΔL craft (and OST).
Re: Shooting Love 200X: US/EU digital release (Games on Dema
Anybody try this with a Japanese 360 yet?
Re: Shooting Love 200X: US/EU digital release (Games on Dema
actually I just did. It works with a JP console on the US store! I'm a little surprised.
Re: Shooting Love 200X: US/EU digital release (Games on Dema
Triangle Service is the kind of company that will do things "for the fans," and is willing to disregard whether their ventures turn a profit for as far as they can keep themselves afloat.HydrogLox wrote:Unless this improves significantly by the end of the week these kind of numbers aren't going to convince anyone to put "Shooting Love. Trilogy" on the Western marketplaces.
Why did they release the Dreamcast port of Trizeal in 2005 while fully admitting that they had no expectations of success for it so late in the DC's life, going as far as to openly beg players to purchase it?
Why did Fujino salvage a game like G-Stream 2020 from almost total obscurity for a carefully remastered and rebalanced port?
Why did they release a console port with limited edition of Ge-Sen Love, a scant minigame/party game collection that was clearly not meant for play outside of a social arcade setting?
Why did they release this localization of Shooting Love 200X at all, over 6 years after the Japanese version and when the 360 is on its last legs even in its home country?
For the fans.

Reading some comments on the twitter feed it does appear to be IP-locked though. You based in the US?

I'm not denying T. Fujino's commitment - he goes above and beyond but ultimately he has to operate within his means no matter how much appreciation he wants to show to his fans.Pretas wrote:For the fans.
In Dec 2013 AmiAmi sold Shooting Love. Collection for 7320¥ - that's about 2000¥ more than the regular edition of Shooting Love. 10-Shuunen: XIIZeal & DeltaZeal was sold for 6 months earlier. So at that time anybody who was going to pick up XIIZEΔL/ΔZEΔL could have had a physical copy of "Shooting Love, 200X" that would play on an NTSC-J Xbox 360 for an additional $20.Oniros wrote:Based Triangle Service! Just don't expect your score to get onto the global leader boards unless you avoid using the other craft - makes me wish the boards were separated by ship type.Aleksei wrote:Wuhat? Don't remember? Didn't know! I look forward to trying that out.
The Trizeal with XII super play on NIH Insanity DVD The Shooting Love XIIStag & Trizeal uses the Player 2 XII Ship - so there might be an advantage there. IIRC the regular Player 2 ship is considered to be easier for weaker players (whatever that means).

Was just playing Shmups Skills Test (finally got the near-mediocre ranking of 3.1 (or close to that)! gamer age is now officially 29!), and reminded me that I wanted to shout out to the fact that they included a powerup dodging challenge
Truly an essential shmup skill. I actually got 100%, too, so I guess all that Omega Fighter playing a few weeks ago payed off
I've noticed that I'm really bad at the button mashing (shooting) based challenges, though
I'll bet Takahashi Meijin would ace that shit

If it helps, most of those will accept any button input to fire, so you can drum your fingers across multiple buttons to achieve proper rapid fire.LordHypnos wrote:I've noticed that I'm really bad at the button mashing (shooting) based challenges, though

Or you could just use a turbo controller. The game doesn't do anything to prevent it.Keres wrote:If it helps, most of those will accept any button input to fire, so you can drum your fingers across multiple buttons to achieve proper rapid fire.LordHypnos wrote:I've noticed that I'm really bad at the button mashing (shooting) based challenges, though

You can get an INSANE fire rate in Skill Test by setting all three fire buttons to turbo and holding them at the same time.
