Mandatory EVAC...
Here in Kleberg County. Basically Kingsville...where I live. (40 miles south of Corpus Christi)
I really don't have any money or any place to go...So, I guess I'm going to rough it out here.
This house survived hurrican Allen in 1980, which was pretty bad, be we came out pretty well. Just flooded streets with powerlines down. Not to mention trees limbs all over the place.
Man, I swear, they fucking sold out of bottled water at Wal-Mart. which goes to show you that people are already in a panic.
People are leaving Galvaston and the surrounding areas.
Well, expect gas prices to go UP again...just when they were starting to go down a bit too!!
We're expecting Rita to hit sometime late Friday/early Saturday.
Hurricanes SUCK!!

Twitch, screw the house! You've got several cars, load all the food and clothing you can into one of those cars, take whatever money you have and get the hell out of Dodge! I'm not trying to start an argument; I don't want to loose you and neither does anyone else on this forum.TWITCHDOCTOR wrote:Here in Kleberg County. Basically Kingsville...where I live. My prayers are with you!
Agreed with Dave. Load up all your stuff and get ready to flee, if needed. Heck, if you need a place to stay, me or some of our other shmuppers will be glad to lend a hand. We need Vodkatron complete, dude!
If you decide to stay, try and get in touch with us as soon as you can. Let us know you are alive and whole.

Remember to put some booby traps in case anyone starts looting around. A couple of cement blocks on top of the doors and many many rat traps in drawers and such places are a good start.
But most importantly keep alive.

Yikes Twitch, I don't know exactly what the storm situation is there, but if you're in real danger
it might be wise to take up Specineff's offer for temporary accomodation rather than take risks with your safety for no good reason.

Be careful dude. I'd offer you a place, but am kind of far. It's a long drive to get anywhere as well.

Yes, I watch the news sometimes...I'm not really a big "TV person".
I'm not worried about any flooding here...we're not like Louisiana. We're above see level. PLus, with all the fields around here, the ground soaks up water like a sponge. Streets will be flooded somewhat, but the area where our home is located is kinda on higher ground.
I expect Zer0eight's neigborhood to be a river! Actually, he's only about 4 streets away from me(not city blocks). The houses are in subdivisions, and for some reason, the area he lives at always floods.
I'm more than likely going to stay here at home. The house is brick...it ain't going anywhere. The roof is in good shape, but for how long it stays that way...?
My old classic car(the Chevelle) is not driveable right now. The engine is in pieces and looking GREAT!!!!(rebuild is going well) Basically, the garage is cluttered with car parts etc, since I've started re-doing er. I should be done in about two weeks.(hurricane willing) Then its off to get painted.
What kinda sucks, is that I have no money to buy plywood to board up the windows. Also, to add insult to injury, most if not all places around here are sold out of wood!!
We only have one other car, its an 88 ThunderBird...but its a "piece o chit" car. The windows don't even go up or down.
If worse comes to worse...roof blows off, I'll take refuge in my Chevelle...which is in the garage.
This area is pretty "hurricane safe". We get frequent storms, but nothing "bad" really happends. Like I said, Allen in 1980 was pretty bad, but this area held out pretty well. No water in the house, roof was ok, but the flooding in the streets came up to our front step.
We're also about 15 to 20 miles inland, so, we're not right next to the ocean. Corpus Christi is though...and thats where our friends and other Vodkatron members reside. (Nate and James)
I'll be active on the net (this website) for as long as I can...weather permitting. I'm expecting the power to go off when the "shit hits the fan".
The last major storm (Allen 1980) power was off for like a week or so, if I remember correctly.
I'm just mainly concered about the house,my video game collection, and my classic hot rod.
If I have to, I can carry my snakes with me! (Lokee and Scorpio) Although that will get old real fast!
The few cats we have will take refuge in the house, or garage.
My grandmother is currently in the hospital again, so she'll be safer there anyway.
Oh well, I think I'm all talked out right now...

Good luck to all the Texas shmuppos. Be safe, not sorry, gentlemen. Remember: games, consoles, and cabs can be replaced. You, on the other hand, can't be replaced (especially you, Twitch!
). If you're in the path of the storm, get the fuck outta dodge, and worry about the rest later.
I'm lucky enough to be a couple of hundred miles from the coast, but they're still predicting winds between 40 and 80 mph here on Saturday. I managed to stock up on a few essentials in case power's down for a few days: bottled water, non-perishable food, loads and loads of alcohol
, etc. I'm juicin' up the GBA-SP tonight.
Godspeed, gentlemen.

I hope Rita won't cause too much damage. Be safe Twitch! And be careful.
Say, where the risk of hurricane is high, do houses have, like, an underground level where people might be safe, like in a bunker? I ask because I don't really know abount safety measures, as hurricanes don't show here (yet...)

Sounds like a good idea to me!
Thanks for the sarcasm Ace!
Why do you think so many people stayed in Louisiana? Because thats all they have! Why do you think some still want to stay there?
I've been through so much shit in my life, seriously, a hurricane doesn't scare me too much...this one however could be pretty bad.
I've ridden out plenty of storms...this one could be pretty bad though.
If all else fails, I may seek refuge at the local hospital, where my grandmother is currently at. She's been my "mother" all my life. The hospital is more structurally sound than our home is.
Being a shmups player, I'm optamistic...its you against everything.
I also feel as though I'm a survivor. RITA WILL NOT KILL ME!!!!! And thats a promise!
I also have the Lord in my heart, so I already know I'm in good hands.
Like I said, I'm willing to ride the storm out in my Chevelle in the garage if the roof blows off.
I once said I was hardcore... I was mainly refering to my addiction to video games, shmups in general. But I guess I'm "hardcore" in other ways as well.
If it looks as though the Eye is heading straight towards us, I'll consider splitting...until then, I'm here.
Nate (Vodkatron himself) may split to Austin TX to ride things out if they get bad. We'll know more tomorrow, "party time" should be Friday, or early Saturday morning.
If our house gets fucked, I may take Spec up on his offer. I prefer the desert anyway...still we are insured.
BTW: Cigs, I'm not too sure that I'm well liked by you, but what can I say? I've never fucked you over, and you really do not know me personally.
You sort of judged me during a certian discussion here at Shmups where I came across a little harsh.(regarding MLF 2) Thats in the past, and I've "let down" my stance since that discussion.
I may not be perfect, but I'm man enough to offer an appology if need be, which was done YEARS ago...
I dunno whether his personal opinion of you has anything to do with it. To me you seem like a decent guy Twitch but I'm going to have to join in with him and the others: You're being pretty fucking stupid.BTW: Cigs, I'm not too sure that I'm well liked by you, but what can I say? I've never fucked you over, and you really do not know me personally.

You have two choices:
1.) Pack up your shit, borrow some money from us/real life friends if need be, and get the fuck out of dodge;
2.) Stay there, and be "hardcore"
You could DIE. Is being hardcore worth that shit? And don't act like leaving isn't possible...
I'm not trying to come across as insulting, I don't know whether I'd be able to think if the storm of the century was about to knock on my door...but you think about what I said.
Or something that might have more meaning for you...what would Jesus do?

And why did those people stay in Louisiana? Because they would've been shot if they tried to leave.
I really don't understand the "beef" you have with me.
But you know what...I'm sorry to be outa line here, its not like me to be this angry and foreward, but, Fuck You!
BTW: I don't get your statement about being shot...if its a joke, its a fucking cheap one indeed.
At least we all know who gets the "Coolest Shmup-o Award". Its you CIGS da cat. Yer da best dood!!!
I could die in a fucking shitstorm, and your holding a stupid grudge over NOTHING!
Fine person you are.
Thanks for judging me asshole!

I tend to speak my mind...when I feel like.
To be honest, I'm really not liking Cigs The Cat. His sarcasm is really falling flat with me.
We really do not have a "history", so to speak. I do not know where this is coming from, sorry. I know you hate my quotations and all...suffer if you will.
I'm getting a little buzzed right now...beer wise. I'm not some "trouble maker dumbfuck" who doesn't know any better. This ain't GameFaqs or some other stupid "rant/flame" site.
I almost feel as though I'm a partial owner of this site.(caretaker if you will) I'm cool enough to do so a well.
But what Cigs said basically, was like a man with a gun to his mouth, saying he's gonna pull the trigger....
"Sounds Like A Good Idea To Me!" Not cool...
My mother is dying in a hospital, and I'm going to be hit with a hurricane, which could possibly level my house and everything I own, and Sigs offers sarcasm.!?
Thanks man, really...what would I do without you!? Do me a favor, while I'm braving the wind and rain, try and 1CC Dodon...if you can my man!
Thanks to all who truely show support! I will get through this!
In a few days, the internet might not mean shit to me. I may even have to "loot" for food.
Fuck that...South Texas people know how to "pull together". (I know you hate quotations, so lick my toilet clean you bastard)
Gee, I guess the "hate drama" continues...
I 'll live...lets talk after you suffer from a massive earthquake...
Edit:
I wouldn't wish a disaster upon anyone...not even my worst enemy, and Cigs is FAR from that.
Fuck it.....

I'm not going to "pucker up" and kiss anyone...to all that dislike me, kiss my White/Irish/Italian ass!
Buy our CD...when we're all dead, it will really be worth more money!!!
