Unique MAME problem

Is there any way to get MAME to believe the game has been on for several weeks? So I can access the modes that would otherwise be console-exclusive, like survival mode.

The only thing I can think is to leave it on all day everyday with throttle off for awhile

I'm mainly interested in survival which loads too frequently on any of the ports...

I think that at some point someone made a hacked .nv file that you can put in MAME's nvram directory. Or try using MAME's cheat system, if someone's created a cheat for that. Sorry I can't be more specific.

doesn't cheat.dat allow survival mode to be used?

Yeap, get cheat.dat and access via tab menu.
You can set the title background colour to any of the modes. Simple.

If that's not permanent, ask the folks at the GameFAQs SFA3 arcade board. A year or 2 ago, somebody found codes to unlock every different color scheme and special battle type. I used them to unlock everything for my SFA3 ROM.

Its not permanent but really only takes a couple of secs to do each time.

I've been religiously playing games since the Atari 2600 and i personally don't mind them being called Shmups. It's obviously a shortened form of shoot-em'-up even to people who don't play games. I even refer to the other board members here as 'Shmup-puppies' on occasion. Does that make you uncomfortable with your sexuality?
